I found it completely ridiculous when Apple refused to cooperate with the FBI and give up Jesse Galganov’s iPhone password claiming they had a “privacy clause” they had to abide by. Yes, privacy is important, but less so when someone’s life is in danger #lesson9#educ307
I don’t think monitoring students’ activities is a violation of privacy. Maybe a couple of years ago when sharing your life on social media was taboo, but not today. It’s become so normal that monitoring must take place to ensure safety especially in a school environment #lesson9
I don’t think it’s a question of not having privacy in the age of technology + social media. I think people today just choose to divulge aspects of their lives. Perhaps doing so a couple of years ago would of seemed “odd” whereas today it’s become the norm #lesson9#educ307
I find it so scary that you can’t control who can see + have access to something you post. “The technologies we use leave virtual tracks that are collected in the background as we go about chatting with friends, working, and playing” #lesson9#educ307
I don’t think teenagers/people today don’t know what “privacy” is, I just think their definition of “privacy” is different + has different implications #lesson9#educ307
@o_bourge @lea_abboudxo @o_bourge agreed! School used to be for learning for “school material” but social media has become such a prominent part of peoples lives that it must become a topic teachers devote time to teach
@anastasiakouuu@anastasiakouuu couldn’t agree with you more! I also remember thinking my parents were so excessive (when they actually really weren’t). Can you imagine how many more things on social media parents today need to monitor for?
@melissa_assaraf @melissa_assaraf agreed! Every section has its own necessary purpose so that after reading the paper, the topic is very well understood #lesson8
@VictoriaEDUC307 @VictoriaEDUC307 I just think they mean that instead of having children move around and play sports, technology has them lying down living a sedentary life style #lesson7
@melissa_assaraf @melissa_assaraf SO time consuming. Every time I have to write one for a class it takes me forever, but the amount of knowledge I gain on the topic is huge!! #lesson8
@VictoriaEDUC307 @VictoriaEDUC307 couldn’t agree more! Spending that much time on social media isn’t good for anyone! Maybe getting kids to move more could even solve more health related issues ! #lesson7
I always find the “discussion” section the hardest to write. It requires a deep understanding of the material, the study, the results, their interpretations and how they compare to what’s already in the literature #lesson8#educ307
Anyone else dislike reading the “results” section of an article? It’s so technical + quantative. I find it quite painful to get through! #lesson8#educ307
Quantative methods are important when reading a study. It’s useful to know detailed information about the participants to see whether study results could be generalizable to a bigger population #lesson8#educ307
Does anyone else have trouble understanding quantative hypotheses? I much rather read a qualitative hypothesis that describes in words what the study is about #lesson8#educ307
When doing research, it’s important to first consult the literature + do a lit review to see what is already known on the topic. This provides a good base + starting point #lesson8#educ307
Environment sustainability issues in regards to electronic waste is definitely something that schools should take into account when implementing ICT programs. We need to take better care of our planet! #lesson7#educ307
ICT education programs should focus on the educational quality of the program, how much the students learn and how their level of enjoyment. The brand and price point of the tools shouldn’t be such an important factor #lesson7#educ307
