23. You are not pooping every day.
There is a direct relationship between your hormones — especially estrogen — and your digestive health.
If you are constipated and/or do not have 1-3 daily bowel movements, you will have a difficult time getting your hormones balanced and keeping them balanced no matter which HRT system you take.
Your hormones have a natural and timely methylation process dictated by your circulating estrogen levels. If there is a disruption in this process balancing hormones is nearly impossible. When estrogen drops too low, women are more likely to become constipated for a few reasons. One of those reasons is women will naturally become dehydrated no matter how much water they drink because estrogen is responsible for body fluid balance and gut motility. Without enough water in the stool and digestion compromised, constipation is inevitable.
When women get constipated, they will be unable to poop which keeps them from experiencing phase III detoxification for estrogen elimination.
If you cannot poop the excess estrogen out of your system every day, your body will reabsorb it in your colon, in your tissues, and up into your gut contributing to a dysfunctional estrobolome, further shutting down the natural processing of estrogen. This creates estrogen dominance. Daily poops are required for the natural processing of estrogen and will keep you from becoming hormonally out of balance, estrogen dominant, and fat.
Are you having 1-3 quality bowel movements every day?

Dr Stephanie Faubion states that "#menopause is not a disease, it’s a normal life transition that 100% of women go through." But that doesn’t mean having to put up with symptoms or navigating treatment options on your own.

As we continue to propel the #menopause movement forward, it’s crucial that we address the differences that individuals across race experience. In the same way we can’t understand women’s health through male focused studies, we can’t look at menopause through a white lens.
NAMS guidelines emphasize hormone-therapy should be based on personal health history and individual risk factors. Faubion says, “there are few women who have absolute contraindications,” meaning for them, hormones would be off the table. #menopause
