This is how decentralization actually happens: more independent operators, more distributed infrastructure, and fewer points of failure.
Decentralization isn’t an event,it’s a process. #litecoin

I’ve had a lot of time to think about what happened the past week regarding Litecoin, the bug exploit, and how some things were handled. More specifically, my role in helping put out posts from the Litecoin handle.
There was a lot of unnecessary and wildly inaccurate information put out at the early onset by many who did not know the inner workings of what had happened, with others perpetuating not only bad information to circulate, but also capitalize on any information to further their own interests. I understand this is just how things are, even if I personally hate it. But as certain people with influence continued to fan that flame, I did something I’m not proud of and would like to seek your forgiveness on.
As some of you already know, the Litecoin handle is a community effort at this point. There are a handful of people who actually have the ability to post from it and actively do. There is also a much larger pool of community members, as well as some from the Litecoin Foundation, who work together on what to post from the official Litecoin handle. During the past week immediately after and during the tensest parts of the exploit though, I was the one posting from the handle.
There came a point where the focused attacks on X towards Litecoin were so blatant and irresponsible that in order to combat them I focused solely on refuting them. Unfortunately, on two specific posts, I lost not only focus, but also my cool, and did not allow myself time to re-read what I had written and reconsider how it would affect others prior to posting them. I later removed from the timeline in order help everyone re-focus and not continue down a path of social chaos.
I still feel strongly about many of the things that happened and who caused them to happen, how they attacked good, honest people who were doing the best job they could under a real situation, and tried to use the situation to further themselves but I could have done better in the heat of the moment and not made things potentially worse. I understand and appreciate the influence the handle has as well as my role in the community’s overall perception of Litecoin, the Litecoin Foundation, and how we navigate within this space as a collective.
I am asking for your forgiveness in this matter and will continue striving to not only do better going forward, but have also forgiven those to whom I allowed get under my skin. I have sacrificed over 8 years of my life into Litecoin and my affinity for what it stands for, the people who work on it, and the potential it has to be what so many desire from a fair form of money for everyone. I hate social media but also know it has a critical role to play in framing the best possible outcome for not only Litecoin, but all of crypto that is not meant to steal from others, take advantage of those just trying to change their lot in life, or anyone just trying to make this broken world a little bit better than it currently is.
No one has told me to write this nor suggested I write this. I just felt it needed to be done because I feel it’s the right thing to do. It pains me if anything I ever do actually impacts anyone in a negative way, even if its to defend others or things that I hold very dear to me. I have also forgiven anyone tied to the past week’s events who attempted to defame, take advantage of, or leverage an unfortunate situation for their own gain or attention. It does no one any good to allow unforgiveness to fester and have a place of residence in your hearts. It does not mean discernment and good judgement is to be ignored and pretend nothing happened, but forgiveness allows us to move forward and strive for better days in better ways.
Thank you to the those who have been there not only for Dave Burkett, Loshan, Alan, and Charlie throughout this time, but also for me. I’m sorry if any of my actions let you down, and I will continue to try to do better in the future.
May the one true God bless you all and reside in your hearts and minds, and thank you for the chance to serve you every day while you place your trust in us to do what is right and for the betterment of all humanity instead of ourselves.
David
