December 31, 2025 @ 16:50 UTC2025 is ending with a bang. AR 4324 nearing center disk produced a long duration M7.1 solar flare this morning peaking at 13:51 UTC (Dec 31). The event is associated with a Type II radio emission with an estimated velocity of 893 km/s. A coronal mass ejection (CME) was produced and although the majority of plasma appears to be heading to the northeast, an Earth directed component may be possible.
