(Story and images from 12/04/2018 Board of County Supervisors meeting) As a part of the California Urban Partnerships work to build economic security in communities, we believe it is important to protect public safety, as well as ensure equal justice under the law.
The California Urban Partnership stands in solidarity with all the community organizations and members that want to see a transparent and accountable Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
We thank the Sac County Board of supervisors for voting unanimously to amend the contract to modify the powers of the Inspector General to monitor and make independent recommendations in significant use-of-force cases, including officer-involved shootings and in-custody deaths.
This will ensure that the Inspector General is fully INDEPENDENT and EMPOWERED to investigate misconduct inside the County Sheriff’s office. Transparency and accountability keep us all safe.
