My teacher requested a Skype meeting as if anyone uses that anymore? Could at least be over the phone now that everyone has that, if too lazy to show up on a schedueled school day but okay.
Then I had to spent a good half hour on remembering my account and make a new password.
Then when I FINALLY got on....
I had rechieved nothing but the most disgusting messages from lots of men, who I neither know or ever gave my Skype to.
As a female you sadly will get asked for pictures or sent some against your own free will. It's ridiculously common.
However, never have I in my ENTIRE life, felt so sexually harassed and disturbed over TEXT. Like I legit gasped and covered my eyes in horror.
What makes men think that they can release their desperation on to whoever they desire? As did they think it was okay as default?
Women have to experience their entire life to get touched without consent, followed, uncomfortably hit on or sent nudes without asking for them.
But the fact that I can't even have a private online account without them finding it and forcing such disgusting content on me?
May I add that I was a kid when I made this Skype account and if I had been active on it during this time, I had seen these things. Maybe even gotten in trouble if any adults had seen so.
And these people who have messaged and requested to add me are legit full grown men.
There is abselutely no shame in sending someone dirty messages or even pictures, you do you.
However don't you dare force that onto anyone who didn't ask for it or even signaled that they wanted to.
I don't know how many online accounts I've closed because somehow my ID got leaked to desperate men like this - which I don't even understand how happens to start with? Coming from someone who never gives out their information unless close friends.
And even if I DID give it out my IDs, I shouldn't be scared to open up my social medias to be met with such viel pictures, links and messages.
Woman already fear going freaking out in public because they just can never be left alone. Women aren't here to stop your thirst.
I don't know how often I've been sexually harassed by men, let it be touched, legit ass or boob grabbed, uncomfortably hit on to in public even when I said I didn't like it, followed (even by car and van), forced up in a corner or even to give out my number or Snapchat.
Many says it's normal, that things like getting catcalled is a compliment, that nudes aren't a big deal and that you're lucky for getting hit on.
But sorry for always feeling so damn scared in public and expecting to at least feel safe in my own room, behind my own screen.
It doesn't matter what gender you go by or don't and I'm not saying that only men are like this because that is not true.
The point is that you don't have to actually go rip someones clothes off, in order to make them feel sexually harassed and unsafe.
So the next time that you want someone's number, make a conversation first.
If you want to send a nude, ask if they would like some.
If you find someone attractive, make sure that whatever you do it's mutual or else you just made another person feel unsafe.
I once dated someone for over 6 months. We had went on trips, spent the nights together etc. And EVEN AFTER spending every day together for so long.
They asked mutiple times if it was okay to kiss me and you know what? That was nicer than any date or gift anyone could ever give.
Consent legit takes seconds to confirm, okay? It makes people feel secure, happy, cared for and understood.
I don't understand why it is so hard for people. It requires no effort, time or money and it only makes you look good, instead of some despertate, uncivilized caveman.
@melstonemusic@ithayla I've seen a couple of small-press publishers handle it with acknowledgements like "[person] has previously written for us under the pseudonym [deadname]".
Allowed people to stay connected to their old work (if they want to) while saying [deadname] was never who they really are.
@melstonemusic When I went into my bank with my name change documents the lady behind the counter was like "Finally! We were wondering when you were gonna do that. Congrats" and then went around to all the other tellers to share my new name with them.
@melstonemusic my first visit to my grandparents post-coming out my grandma just said "so youre the grandson ive been hearing so much about" and i was@like ah yes it is me
