In two years the damage done will be profound. How did we go from preserving the character of mature neighbourhoods to blanket zoning where giant ugly monoliths loom midblock. over character bungalows. You are witnessing the worst city council in the history of Edmonton.
In two years it will be seen as temporary insantiy that we ever had a city council that supported 8 (and sometimes 16) unit monster-plexes on single family lots in single family neighbourhoods.
It'll be seen as crazy as allowing street encampments and handing out hard drugs to addicts.
Is it disqualifying for you in the coming Edmonton civic election if a candidate for mayor or city council supports allowing 8-unit monster-plexes to be built on single family lots up and down the street of single family neighbourhoods?
Thank you @_TimCartmell for taking a stand and doing the right thing for mature neighborhoods. We need to pause this irreversible damage & build density thoughtfully & properly.
Fixing Infill. Rebuilding Trust. Planning for What’s Next.
I’ve heard from people across the city. You’re not against growth. You’re against being left out of the process. You’re frustrated with blocked sidewalks and massive builds that don’t reflect your neighbourhood.

This is the new normal in mature neighbourhoods. 8 & 16 plex construction, screamo & chaos 9 hours a day. Complete disrespect. Residents have no voice and @CityofEdmonton councillors support this. @dstaples @lornegunter @GlobalEdmonton
The greatest threat to Canada isn't Trump.
Our greatest threat is a continuation of the economic stagnation that we've experienced over the last decade of Liberal rule.
That stagnation has been caused by high taxes, irresponsible immigration policies, and legislation aimed at choking natural resource development.
None of this is going to change under a Carney Liberal government.
As a result of #yegcc mass rezoning and as actual 8 unit structures start being constructed, I am hearing anger from Edmontonians like never before.
This will be a major election issue in October.
This disastrous thoughtless experiment needs to repealed.
@DavidStaplesYEG Just read Sam Coopers Willful Blindness. It's a crisis here as well but the federal government & BC government have chosen to turn a blind eye.
@PaulTheActor@ABDanielleSmith Jasper is the largest national park in Alberta and Parks Canada ... which is the federal government... is responsible for its management.
Our provincial parks need to be a priority. There has been decades of forest mismanagement. Strategic & culled clearing should be done regularly. @JustinTrudeau you spend money on such foolish things. Why is this not a priority? #devastating#JasperNationalPark
I met Darren when he started his career at ITV. He was a small town guy from Porcupine Hills, Saskatchewan. He was loud, excitable, one of a kind with a contagious spirit. A sports trailblazer! RIP @dutchysc

Last night's Festival of Trees Gala was truly wonderful. Everyone who attended helped support the innovation at UofA Hospital – a new Simulation Lab for precise healthcare practices and a redesigned Fourth Floor Atrium for peace and comfort.
Congratulations to all the event organizers on another successful year!
It's a pleasure to support @MacEwanU ... the Allard Business Chair supports community leaders providing opportunities for student engagement & mentorship
