ALLATRA GRC Brings an Early-Warning Perspective on Stigmatization to the OSCE Human Dimension Meeting in Vienna
On June 29-30, 2026, the OSCE Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting in Vienna brought together representatives of participating States, international organizations, experts, and civil society to discuss preventing torture and ill-treatment.
As part of the official OSCE side-event programme, ALLATRA organized the side event "From Stigmatization to Ill-Treatment: Lessons from Russia and Beyond, Early Warning Signs, Human Dignity, and Prevention of Abuse," where experts from ALLATRA Global Research Center (GRC) presented an early-warning perspective on stigmatization and human rights prevention.
The discussion explored an often overlooked stage in the preventive chain: how coordinated stigmatization, dehumanizing narratives, and sustained disinformation campaigns may gradually shape public perception, normalize hostility, and create conditions in which discrimination, institutional pressure, and human rights violations become more likely.
The event brought together legal researchers, human rights experts, civil society representatives, and a witness of persecution from the Russian Federation, combining legal analysis, human rights expertise, and personal testimony to examine the impact of stigmatization on human rights. Among the topics discussed were:
• early warning indicators of stigmatization,
• transnational repression,
• the impact of dehumanizing narratives on democratic societies,
• access to justice and equal participation,
• and practical approaches to recognizing harmful information patterns before they escalate.
During the Meeting's plenary discussion, ALLATRA GRC representative Vladimir Ivanov emphasized that systematic stigmatization and dehumanization deserve greater attention as potential early warning indicators in efforts to prevent torture and ill-treatment.

When conversations become an intersection point between ideas, time, and people
We had the honor of conducting in-depth interviews with two outstanding representatives of Italian culture, law, and science - Professor Alberto Contu and Dr. Daniela Davan.
These were not simply conversations with experts of their time. They were meetings with people whose life journeys are reflecting the aspiration to understand humanity, society, and the future.
Professor Alberto Contu - a researcher, philosopher of law, expert in federalism, political theory, and behavioral neuroscience, as well as Senior Advisor to IASC (the Institute for Advanced Studies and Cooperation) within the World Changers initiative - shared his perspective on how ideas that transform society are formed and why the development of humanity begins with the inner transformation of each individual.
Dr. Daniela Dawan - an outstanding lawyer, Counselor to the Supreme Court of Cassation of Italy, writer, and researcher of human nature - spoke about her path, which unites law, literature, and a profound understanding of human destinies.
In these conversations, we sought not only professional knowledge but also answers to deeper questions: what drives a person, how the sense of justice is born, what shapes our future, and which values can unite society.
Such meetings remind us that behind laws, institutions, and historical processes there is always a human being their choices, awareness, and aspiration for the better.
🌐 Soon, on the ALLATRA ITALIA channels, we will share the full versions of these unique interviews.

Dr. John Ahn Brings the Micro- and Nanoplastics Crisis to the TEDx Stage
Dr. John Ahn, PhD, MBA - Chief Scientist and Chair of the ALLATRA Global Research Center - took the TEDxStLouis stage on May 30, 2026, delivering a talk at the Missouri History Museum.
His presentation, "Too Small to See, Too Dangerous to Ignore: Micro- and Nanoplastics," brought critical attention to one of the most urgent invisible threats facing humanity today.
Dr. Ahn addressed how everyday plastic products break down into particles so small they cannot be seen yet accumulate in our air, water, ecosystems, and human bodies. Emerging research links these particles to neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular effects, reproductive health challenges, and cellular disruption.
Не also noted that while reducing plastic use, improving recycling, and developing cleanup efforts remain important, the removal of micro- and nanoplastic particles already dispersed in air, water, ecosystems, and biological systems remains extremely difficult at a global scale. Dr. Ahn emphasized the need for a broader scientific discussion on how these particles could be made less harmful once they are already present in biological and environmental systems.
A key highlight of the talk was the role of electrostatic charge in explaining how these particles interact with biological systems - a scientific insight that may be central to developing future solutions.
Dr. Ahn's talk invited the audience to look at micro- and nanoplastics not only as an environmental issue, but as an emerging scientific challenge that requires continued research, open discussion, and practical thinking about future solutions.

Can We Talk About Peace Today in the Same Way As We Did 10 or 20 Years Ago?
The city of Assisi, Italy, once again became a place where this question sounded especially relevant.
In the year marking the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi whose ideas of peace, brotherhood, and responsibility keep inspiring people worldwide, an international meeting titled “From Assisi to the Quantum Age: Rethinking Peace Through Brotherhood” took place on June 2, 2026, in the historic Sala della Conciliazione at Palazzo dei Priori, as part of the Rome–Assisi Peace March 2026.
The event was organized by E-Novation in cooperation with Accademia Internazionale Mauriziana, Fiaccola per la Pace, the National Committee San Francesco 1226–2026, Assisi Pax International, Spiritual Diplomats, and the Institute for Advanced Studies and Cooperation (IASC) within the framework of the international World Changers initiative.
The meeting brought together diplomats, researchers, representatives of the cultural field, spiritual communities, and the technology sector, to seek a new language of peace in the era of rapid changes — the time when technologies are transforming not just the economy and politics, but also the very perception of a human, society, and global responsibility.
ALLATRA Italy presented an approach to environmental responsibility in the spirit of the encyclical Laudato Si’, paying special attention to the issue of micro- and nanoplastics as one of global challenges for the biosphere and human health. This problem requires a comprehensive scientific, ethical, and societal response.
On this topic, Nabil Bougaresh, representative of the ALLATRA Global Research Center, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of an interdisciplinary approach and international cooperation in the study of global environmental processes.
The ALLATRA Italy media team interviewed speakers and organizers of the event in order to highlight their views on the future of the world, the importance of international dialogue, and the need for a joint search for solutions in the face of global challenges.
Assisi once again confirmed its role as a space for dialogue where different approaches and ideas can unite for a more holistic vision of the future of humankind.
ALLATRA Civic Platform New York hosted a community event at Civic Hall on April 23: “Micro- and Nanoplastics: Impact on Animals and Nature.”
The event brought together scientists, researchers, and New York City residents for an open discussion on the growing impact of micro- and nanoplastics on living systems. The presentation drew from the documentary Nanoplastics: A Threat to Life and the report Nanoplastics: A Systematic Risk Analysis for Human Health, Ecosystems, and the Environment, released by the ALLATRA Global Research Center.
Speakers examined the effects of micro- and nanoplastics on ocean ecosystems, wildlife, insects, farm animals, and pets, showing how plastic pollution moves through the food chain and interacts with living organisms at the cellular level. The limitations of current solutions, including recycling and ocean cleanup efforts, were also explored.
Oli Kotyk, an ALLATRA speaker, explained how a single gram of plastic can ultimately fragment into quadrillions of nanoplastic particles, and invited an audience member to participate in a live demonstration. Through a series of simple experiments, the audience identified one of plastic’s defining properties: its ability to acquire and retain an electrostatic charge.
📶Dr. Anastasiya Pashigreva, a scientist and representative of the ALLATRA GRC, highlighted how this property may allow plastic particles to penetrate the cells of animals and plants and interfere with the electrical processes that sustain living organisms - from neural signaling to photosynthesis.
She closed with the words: “The animals cannot advocate for themselves. Bees losing their ability to navigate home cannot tell us what is happening to them. The shearwater chick with hundreds of pieces of plastic in its stomach cannot testify before a legislature. But we know. And knowing, we are responsible.”
Stay tuned to ALLATRA New York for more upcoming community events.

"Tonight, you are not watching the future. You are creating it."
On April 24, 2026, in Tirana, Albania, the Quantum Balkan Initiative (QBI) was launched — a regional alliance founded on a simple conviction: that the quantum era will be defined not by the technology itself, but by who is at the table when it is built.
The evening closed with a performance that brought science and art together: an AI hologram in dialogue with a Gala Host. The hologram's final line — borrowed from the founding principle of quantum mechanics itself:
▸ "In quantum physics, a possibility becomes real when it is observed. Tonight, you are not watching the future. You are creating it."

What awaits humanity in a world where technology develops faster than society can comprehend its impact?
This very question became central at the presentation of the book by Professor Gabriele Pao-Pei Andreoli, co-authored with Professor Alberto Contu — “World Federal Constitutionalism and Technologies of Power in the Quantum Era,” which took place on May 17, 2026, at the Turin International Book Fair.
The authors spoke not only about the technologies of the future, but above all about human responsibility toward society and future generations. About the fact that the development of artificial intelligence, digital power, and global systems must be accompanied by ethics, cooperation, and respect for human life.
Participants of “ALLATRA” from Italy attended the presentation and, during the event, interviewed the authors, discussing the key ideas of the book and the questions of the future of technology, ethics, and the role of the human being in a rapidly changing world.
Soon, the full video from the event will be published on the “ALLATRA Italy” channels.
