i made a video tutorial for palworld's strongest movement tech. it'll be public in a week, right now it's patrons/members/etc only
it's genuinely so much fun to do and only takes level 13
behold, the 8 types of ghosts you can summon, all the same sprite with different colors
shadow, ghost, poltergeist, wraith, specter, onryo, banshee, unseen entity
gameboy color hybrid sprite limitations
signs your streamer might be a psychopath: he legitimately enjoys drawing complex folds in robes and also hands
hands are seriously my favorite thing to draw they're so expressive

how to create a cool enemy design
step 1: attempt to draw a design you liked but barely remember without any references
step 2: accidentally arrive at unique design
step 3: recolor
meet the 6 elementals
(rgb555, 6 colors + transparency, gameboy color hybrid sprite compatible)
We talked about this on the last episode of The New Gods podcast. Games being "woke" specifically isn't the problem ("woke" devs can and have made good games), it's that there is a disconnect in values between the players and the developers
What the devs think makes for a good story is broadly not what the players do, and not being politically neutral alienates half the audience that you're relying on to buy the games. That's fine when you're an indie with a hyper-specific audience, but it's untenable for a AAA studio who needs hundreds of millions of dollars to break even, and they're reaping the whirlwind now
@Choruss55 because it takes 15 seconds to type the request to claude and 10 minutes to do it by hand
just because i'm capable of making my own placeholders doesn't mean i'm gonna waste my time on it
behold: my ai-generated placeholder graphics (i asked it to programmatically generate these with a python script)
i do not know if steam requires me to report these lol lmao
today's sprites, and the total so far. thieves and priests are done, meaning it's time to focus on the last few features and start doing level design for the demo
@2ray_degenemax Have you heard of Power Rangers? It's the American version of ジュウレンジャー. It's a different story with different characters in a different setting, but it re-used the Japanese action scenes.
Feels like it might be obscure outside of America.

total class art done so far: adventurers, fighters, mages, wizards, berserkers, 1 knight, 2 monk, 1 swordmaster, ninjas.
that is 21 of the 69 sprite pairs i'll eventually need. 23 classes × 3 alignments (good neutral evil)
once i do thieves and priests, that's enough for the demo
