Look, the first thing Democrats have to do should be relatively easy. It doesn't involve changing any public policy position. It doesn't involve reaching out to different constituencies.

There has to be a categorical rejection and disavowal of how the presidential primary and nomination process played out this year, and a demonstrated commitment to ensuring this will not be precedent-setting, and that voters have the chief and primary say in who will serve as the nominee of the party. Since it wasn't offered earlier, voters now need to hear Democrats say: "this wasn't ideal. This was not good."
