So excited to have my video featured by @fish_intel for #NationalMarineWeek! I've worked on black seabream since 2017 and still find them absolutely bonkers. These fish had recovered from tagging and were ready for re-release back to their Sussex spawning grounds. Early May 2022.
It is #NationalMarineWeek this week so @fish_intel will be showcasing some of the amazing species we are tagging and tracking for the @PlymUni@Channel_Manche project!
Let's start with Black bream (Spondyliosoma cantharus) tagged in Sussex last month! 🐟 🧵 1/3
Thanks to a fantastic shad tagging effort, led by @FishEcol_BU, @FishMigrationDr, @IslanderDodd@MYeldham we have some exciting initial findings from #SevernShadRun! 🥳🐟 These early results are great news for migratory fish of the River Severn 👉https://t.co/Y9O4EvpLhN👈
We are back at the #ShadSymposium in Worcester today. Kicking off Day 2 with a talk from Aurore Baisez from LOGRAMI, about shad monitoring on the River Loire 🐟
Sarah, from @NaturalEngland, has been working with our project and @bournemouthuni, developing a citizen science programme for using eDNA to track shad on #RiverSevern. She talks about the benefits of using citizen science at today's #ShadSymposium.
Sarah presenting her work developing a way for citizen scientists to collect essential data for river monitoring projects using eDNA at the #ShadConference for @NaturalEngland
The ecosystem role of migratory fish can often be left unsaid. Bravo @Pete_Davies1 for making the point while introducing his amazing telemetry project #ShadSymposium
