Promoting workforce mobility, economic development, quality of life for the Great Lakes and Northeast Megaregions through fast, frequent passenger rail service.
We're officially done here. Join us on BlueSky, LinkedIn, Mastodon, and for now Threads. We're waiting to see of Meta's new algorithms and fake AI accounts (for driving engagement) are going to hit Threads like it will Insta and FB.
It appears @CSX has made a demand to gold-plate a tiny stretch of their railroad if the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is to be extended to Cleveland:

@VickieforNYC Cars, by far, kill and maim the most people. That's the elephant. Stop focusing on the flea on its back. Support quality infrastructure for everyone and safer streets. That solves the problem.
I'm told by someone who toured the station several yrs ago, it was inadequate then. Should've been better communication during design, FDOT should've listened. Forcing Amtrak to use this now isn't the solution. Better design and communication up front is https://t.co/MG4serjBHp
Neither FDOT or @Amtrak are innocent here. Million$ spent and 27 years of negotiations. NY-Miami trains won't be serving Miami International Airport. We need major passenger rail policy reform and must get beyond the Amtrak model for providing service. https://t.co/SwXooVVrxx
We recommend this podcast interview with Joshua Dominic, one of the co-founders of Dreamstar Lines, which is aiming to start a SoCal-San Fran night train in early 2026. We're rooting for @DreamstarLines

I can attest. Once my former job allowed work from home 3 days/wk, my mood improved. My family is also happier vacationing in places that are walkable and have good transit:

In 2023 Europe had 399 grade crossing accidents. In the US, we had 2,192. Why? Europe has eliminated most of its grade crossings. We need to take rail safety measures like grade crossing elimination more seriously here. https://t.co/6YbIN631qh
@Amtrak makes our jobs as advocates harder when this stuff happens. VIA Rail Canada isn't having these issues with their LD fleet order. Perhaps Amtrak should go to single-level equipment and do a joint order with VIA. It would save both companies money https://t.co/PX4ybpPnwv

While a step in the right direction and we will support it; it falls short of what is really needed to transform our rail system. Link to bill text in page below:

We launched Moving Florida Forward in 2023 to accelerate needed road projects with an emphasis on alleviating traffic.
I-75 in and near Ocala can be a parking lot and represents one of the worst bottlenecks in the state. We have infused $541 million into expanding lanes from SR 44 to SR 326, which is forecast to significantly reduce traffic congestion.
This project was not slated to begin for another 10-15 years, but thanks to our program, construction is already underway.
Another private operator is about to enter the European HSR market. This time in France. Proxima will compete with state operator SNCF:
