@Ashley95683110 Ashley thanks so much for sharing this information. Elder abuse tends to often go underreported or in some cases tend to forget about the older individuals. Elder abuse is a major problem in America and could use much advocating and push for policies to protect older adults.
@courtneygray244 Thanks for sharing this important information Courtney! Many older adults face social isolation, and I feel as if many tend to forget the negative effects that social isolation can place on these older adults lives. Very good topic that should be brought to more peoples attention
As much as 5 million elders are abused in America each year. Elder abuse is a silent problem in our society that needs to be brought to attention. SWS states a need for prevention of and intervention for elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation across settings. #WKUSocialWorkPolicy
@courtneygray244 Thanks for sharing Courtney! I agree that the United States should participate in this act because children should be protected among a set of human rights just as adults are. Child maltreatment is so prevalent in our society that this Act is much needed to protect children!
On average, millions of children are experiencing abuse/neglect although only a small percentage is being reported. SWS states, systematic changes are needed in child abuse reporting systems creating standardized and effective intake and assessment systems. #WKUsocialworkpolicy
@ElizabethRaben Hi Lizzie, thanks for sharing! The infographic you provided illustrated the alarming rates of higher suicide and depression rates among LGBTQ+ compared to their heterosexual peers. The data proves this is a major issue, and should be taken into consideration for future policies!
