Crowd sourced some ideas for final exam review tomorrow and I’m actually pretty excited with what I came up with! Will share photos & explanations of each activity tomorrow when we do them
Students rolled two die over a grid of vocabulary words, then wrote sentences connecting the two terms together. Students switched off until 12 sentences were written.
A colleague came over this morning with a stack of tree cookies (cross sections of tree trunks) to ask if I’d like to use them in my forestry unit. I happily accepted, and then noticed that he and I were both matching in clothing patterned with birds.
Because we’re scientists.
@teachcrap It might be worth encouraging them to move schools or districts. My third year of teaching was awful, I cried & complained all the time, bc of the situation administration put me in. I changed schools the next year and I’m now in year 8 and feeling much better about my longevity.
6 NEW TEACHER MISTAKES
1. You Grade Everything
2. You Want The Students To Like You
(This shouldn’t be your primary motive...rather, a byproduct)
3. You Don’t Take Care Of Yourself
4. You Work Alone
5. Staying Too Late
6. Saying ‘yes’ too often…its okay to say no!
@TheMamasaurus Any new acronym the district is ‘really excited to implement,’ someone saying they wanna be mindful of your time and then NOT being mindful of your time, anytime someone asks a personal/individual question that makes the meeting go longer
Typed up 7 pages of notes on animal adaptations mostly from memory. It looks like, 7 years after getting my degree in organismal biology - I still got it!
S/o to my undergrad classes: biodiversity, herpetology, animal behavior, animal phys., vert. anatomy, evolution, & ecology!
Any other teachers morally opposed to paying for things like TpT?
I’ve worked at three schools in my county and taught 6 different preps. I’ve always had help from my county and my department. Lord knows we don’t get paid enough, why should we use our own money on lessons??
Thursday night of @GAHSBOTC is a show of teamwork, creativity, problem solving, and student leadership!
So proud of every student and every staff member who makes it happen! @GAHS_Official@principal_dport@hachlovesapush @GAHSMsPantele
Today is the English 10 Writing SOL so I’ll be with my 9th graders from 9-12:30. They have one independent assignment to do and I’m spending the time planning the rest of our unit, Rocks & Minerals.
And, tbh, I’ve been staring at my resources and notes and labs and folders for so long that “rock” isn’t a real word anymore, every time I see it my brain is giving me a 404 error message
