@notcapnamerica Unlimited PTO is great if done right. My org requires us to take a minimum of 20 days/year & enforces it. Paid sick leave & paid holidays are separate from the PTO. It's made me finally realize how important it is to take time off, not normally ingrained in American work culture.
@YNB Mom's rule-no bare feet when cooking. I was home doing the latchkey thing, opened a can of tuna, dropped the jagged lid on my bare foot. It cut through my toe until it hit bone. Sis & I covered my toe with Neosporin & bandaids, cleaned up the blood splatter & mom never found out
@svershbow@TheAtlantic I used to finish books no matter what. Around the time I turned 40 (5 years ago) I realized that life's too short and there are too many good books to read, and I no longer feel obligated to finish a book I don't like. It's a very freeing feeling!
Hey @wmata it would have been great to have a warning that Fort Totten metro station is currently inaccessible by car. 1st St closed, all other street entrances closed, traffic nightmare. 15 minute commute turned into an hour in my car and now I'm back home.
