First Weekend of the Beta Impressions:
• SBMM needs to go. Open matchmaking should be the standard for public playlists. Skill should not be considered at all in public matches. I think this would help newer players improve while also keeping more experienced players engaged and playing longer.
• TTK still needs some work, but it has improved since the first day of the beta.
• Aim assist could use a slight nerf. A small reduction in rotational aim assist would make the game a lot better considering the removal of bloom and the lack of recoil on most guns. (Coming from a controller main)
• Bolt-action snipers need a faster fire rate and less weapon wobble while rechambering.
• Too many negative attachment effects. Some attachments come with way too many downsides, which makes certain builds feel unnecessarily restrictive.
• Spawns (especially in Hardpoint) need a complete rework. There doesn’t seem to be much natural flow to the maps right now. I had a game where the entire enemy team was wiped, and we happened to have a UAV up, yet there were enemy dots appearing in basically every corner of the map. The spawns need a lot of attention.
Overall, the game is fun and has a lot of potential. I really hope Infinity Ward is listening to the community and taking this feedback into consideration before full launch.
I’ll have a weekend 2 impressions post as well but right now, this is where I’m at with it.
Thoughts on the Beta:
•I’m speaking for everyone. I promise we will not mind another year of Open matchmaking.
•Frangible bullets gotta go
•Reg Gunning is fun but the TTK is a tad bit too fast. (I got 3 shotted by a AK47 All leg shots according to the body chart at the top right in killcam)
•Maps are nice but Spawns need a little work
•Sniping is great but 72 levels is crazy 😭 please in full release reduce level cap on weapons.
Other than that, it’s a fun time.
