Go back to Ellis Island. Do you think they "assimilated" instantly?
Italian immigrants built Little Italys. Chinese immigrants built Chinatowns. Germans had German-language newspapers, schools, churches, and whole neighborhoods (German Villages). Irish, Polish, Jewish, Greek, Cuban, Vietnamese, Mexican, and countless other communities arrived speaking different languages, practicing different religions, eating different foods, and forming tight-knit enclaves.
That wasn’t an invasion. That was America.
Assimilation has almost always happened across generations, not overnight. The first generation often holds tightly to language and culture. Their kids grow up American. Their grandkids often barely speak the old language but still love the food, festivals, churches, synagogues, neighborhoods, and family stories.
Trump's regime picking AI winners and losers is yet another example of Russian 'sistema' being imposed on the United States. Ideological alignment confers advantage. Everybody else can pound sand. This is not America.

As @DHSGenCounsel cheers on stripping 350,000 people of their status, jobs, homes, and safety, here's a 🧵on some people at risk; real people, not caricatures.
Start with Vilbrun Dorsainvil, a doctor who fled Haiti to Springfield in 2021. He went back to school and is now an RN.
I see this question all the time, so, again, the immigration system DOES NOT WORK THIS WAY. There is no way for deserving people without a green card to simply "apply for citizenship."
I absolutely WISH the system worked the way @BirdieGentry1 and others seem to think it does.
Periodic reminder that you cannot breed out a polygenic and the generational response to selection is extremely slow. The Nazis sterilized or killed nearly all schizophrenics in Germany (a far more heritable phenotype than criminality) and yet the incidence increased.
All I can say about the reflecting pool debacle is that I thought it would be impossible to top the Four Seasons Landscaping plot line, but having the guy who said he was gonna drain the swamp accidentally MAKE A GIANT SWAMP is giving it a run for its money.
feeling pretty vindicated as someone who would turn down an invite to mansion parties, private plane rides, secret societies, and all variations of social gatherings, whether high or low
What no one is asking now is WHY Gabbard was being run by a cult? For decades, Russia has worked to inject itself into spiritual cults (Maharishi, ISKCON, SIF) to 1) get people staring at their navels instead of taking political or practical action, 2) bring about “world peace” by capturing and dismantling US capabilities.
The “antiwar” movement is a left-right capture play and has been on display at recent events such as “Rage Against the War Machine” and “Rally to Rescue the Republic” which are run by the Libertarian Party, the Schiller Institute, the Ron Paul network, and the RFK Jr network — as well as the full menagerie of RU/CN proxies. Gabbard is fully part of that network and has spoken at those events.
This network goes back decades in various forms and has been at the heart of the anti-war and anti-nuclear “movements” which have been fluffed by Russia, and more recently by China.
Gabbard isn’t some one-off whack-job proxy of a rogue cult leader: this is an assault by our adversaries in a long game of information warfare and state capture, and those adversaries now have every state secret she cared to locate and share. We are less secure now. Congrats.
I’m not telling you anything here that wasn’t known during her confirmation hearings. Which means the Senate was derelict of duty, and complicit.
Some will also remember when Tulsi was briefly chair of the DNC, a Sanders Institute fellow, and a darling of the left cheering on Julian Assange. She was always a snake and her goal was to infiltrate and destroy the Democratic Party.
Next time maybe more people will pay attention to those doing closer reads of the signals instead of flitting from scandal to scandal.
A jaw-dropping must-read. This is practically a case study in why cult membership should be a red flag for those in senior leadership positions. 'High-control' groups like this have their own agenda and *will* pursue it through their members. 👇
What’s sad about this reporting is that it 1) is years late in reaching a mainstream outlet, 2) doesn’t properly contextualize Butler’s cult as a RU influence operation, which it ultimately is. Once again, we are left to believe this is just “wacky people” vs an assault by an adversary.
I have few friends. Ben Taub is one of them. His work is always urgent but timeless. The depth of research and the writing is why he won the Pulitzer Prize. Read this latest piece by him to see how serious all the insane stuff from this criminal admin we mock actually is.
Unless you're an brain-wormed partisan, "Iran is an evil regime," "this preventive war was stupid and should never have been launched," and "this peace deal is a US humiliation" are three perfectly true things you should be able to believe at the same time.
If I had said "Japan in 1941-1942 shows why operational successes do not amount to strategic victory," I doubt people would be upset. Apply this to Iran, and people both left and right get bug-eyed.
This is why war colleges use historical cases: To foster dispassionate analysis
