Facebook's playbook:
"Burying internal research documenting these harms, blocking safety measures because they decrease ‘engagement,’ and defunding teams focused on protecting youth mental health.”https://t.co/7eklzGjAw7
Cognizant CEO: "Distributed work and living is real in hybrid workplaces of today. "
Cognizant management: 'YouTube music workers no longer have jobs if they don't show up in Austin office."
YouTube Music workers: "We're on strike."

Meta is doing a $40 billion stock buyback. No accountability for the $13.7 billion they lost on Metaverse. Instead, they laid off 11,000 workers in November. This gave them a talking point to show they are 'leaning in' to the 'year of efficiency.' sick.
The lowest-paid among them earned a minimum of $1.32 per hour after tax. Some said they were mentally scarred by what they read, and described mental health support as both inadequate and difficult to obtain. (5/8)
Their working conditions reveal a darker side to the AI boom: that AI often relies on hidden, low-paid human workers who remain on the margins even as their work contributes to a multibillion-dollar industry. (6/8)
“Meta’s decision to ax the Sama contract just as FB moderators were organizing for better conditions shows what cowards they are. The moment it looks like Meta is in legal hot water for its awful working conditions, the company moves to hide behind a different firm” —@cori_crider

The last time a Speaker didn’t win in the first ballot was in 1923 and so we’re gonna go live to the 4 Congressmen and 6 Senators who were there for a reaction.
If you're a tech worker considering sharing information with the media, you have rights! The Tech Worker Handbook is a good place to start, and note that all conversations with me and Casey can begin completely off the record: https://t.co/lf3kM5CZ8C
FYI, reporters:
Around 3,000+ contractor employees of Twitter were canned last night (totally normal thing to do, btw). How does Twitter have so many contractors? This is where the CONTENT MODERATOR numbers are hidden. They are called “agents” at Twitter.
On social media, free speech, and content moderation, the problem is not that no one's tried little-to-no moderation in the name of free speech. The problem is it's been tried many times in various ways and consistently failed, because it's not simple, and involves many tradeoffs
If you think Alex Jones was sued over “free speech,” you are (willfully?) ignorant of defamation law.
Plaintiffs suing for defamation must show all the following:
1. A statement was published
2. The statement was false
3. The statement was injurious
