FSU has this dumb tradition of ripping up the grass from opposing stadiums and taking it to their “sod cemetery” after they win.
They did it last year in the Swamp.
So Florida did it back to them— and then stomped and danced on the FSU wordmark in the end zone.
Payback is a MF
Kids are entitled to transfer wherever they want. And if they choose to go from Florida to a rival, I’m entitled to hope their careers fall off a cliff. It’s a two-way street.
Guess what? Neither party here gives a shit what the other thinks. Life goes on for us all. 🤷🏻♂️
It sucks Cade Kurland hasn’t been healthy in essentially three calendar years, because very few have done more for Gator baseball than him.
And no that’s not cap.
He’s 9th on Florida’s all time HR list with 43. He’s 22 RBI short of cracking the top 10 on Florida’s career RBI leaderboard, as well as 16 runs scored outside of the top 10 in that category. And I’ll never forget the two dingers he hit in the de facto NCAA Tourney play-in game at Georgia in 2024, the first one for the lead and the second one for the dagger.
Hope he comes back, but if he doesn’t, I’ll be thankful for the memories.
For the record, I’m a huge Scott Stricklin fan. He’s navigated the athletic program though many challenges, and his job is tough. I know this great Gator, @AllKindsWeather, has been critical of Scott, and I’m really glad to see him acknowledge Scott does listen to the fans. I know Scott’s heart, and he does care deeply about UF, the students and the fans.
🚨PORTAL ALERT🚨
Former #Gators second baseman Cade Kurland transfers to rival LSU 🐯
He spent four years at Florida, the last three of which he spent fighting injury.
I guess this is what he meant when he said he wanted to explore pro ball. 🤷🏻♂️
I have to give the man his credit.
To err is human, to realize you’ve erred and make up for it is one of the most respectable traits any human can have.
Scott Stricklin was initially slow to the NIL game, and he was initially talking about wiping out ~15,000K seats from the Swamp.
But then he listened. He heard what the fans, alumni, donors, Gators greats, etc. had to say. And he took that feedback well.
Now Florida is set to spend $50M on its football and basketball rosters next year, and the Swamp renovations are not going to come at a cost of thousands of seats after all.
Thank you, Scott, for listening to the #GatorNation. To the rest of society, let this be a lesson. To change your tune on something is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of growth that must be respected.
I’ve never had an anti-Stricklin agenda, mind you. I’ve always simply had a pro-Florida-winning agenda. If Stricklin is going to do the things needed for Florida to win and for fans to enjoy the winning along the way, he should be cheered just as loudly as he was booed when things weren’t going well.

My ultimate loyalty is to logic and reason. As a logical and reasonable person, I reserve the right to change my mind when presented with new information that contradicts my previous opinions. I wish more people would do this, but I may as well be the change I want to see.
@AllKindsWeather The same is true for you. You have been hard on SS (all deserved), but quick to point out how he has reversed course. Good for you for not making it personal, but always about the issues. That too is a good trait
