On #WorldShorebirdsDay, we were happy to support wader conservation by tagging 6 Spotted Redshanks with GPS transmitters as part of the #HABITRACK project. We hope to learn more about this lesser-studied species and its habitats soon! | #waders#shorebirds@ShorebirdsDay@ivb_cas
After tagging #godwit in W. France all spring, we are going back in time in the phenology here at 65ºN in Finland, where the birds don't yet have chicks.
My first paper is out in @Oikos_Journal !

It is now the turn of this very rare and endemic Mascarene petrel to return to the sea thanks to the effort of local NGO (SEOR). It is a special emotion to see this particular Petrel flying away to the ocean.
A Barau's Petrel reached the sea! The juveniles of this endemic species of Réunion Island fledge at night and several hundred are victims of light pollution (disoriented). A lot of work is being done to rescue them and to warn about this threat.

Deployment of GLS tags on Southern giant Petrel in Adélie Land, #Antarctica. Next year we will know more about where this population forages and winters!
Adélie #penguins are arriving by thousands these days in Dumont d'Urville! Barely arrived and already very busy making their nests. The early males take advantage of this to steal stones from the neighbouring nests that are not yet occupied. #Antarctica
