2020 in jinja as a casual labourer working for a timber processing company earning 6600 per day, on a 12 hour shift. Poor feeding, no safety precautions, rudeness of supervisors, hectic work out of proportion with our energy and strength. The job was not only dangerous to my physical body but also psychologically. I lost 6 kgs in one month. That's when I knew fatigue could be carried to another day, unworthy people having authority over me, my health started deteriorating and by the third month, after the ban in vehicles was lifted in lockdown, I resigned and went back home.
There are men I found there who would tell me they had been working there for 8 years.
I went back and checked in the company in 2023 when I was in year 2 of college when we had gone to jinja for some competitions but I was denied entry.
