2 years ago I questioned if I even wanted to do a podcast with The Trading Nut.

I almost cancelled it a few minutes before the call. I valued my privacy and was worried that it would negatively impact my trading.

I said… F*ck it. If someone finds value in my journey then I have a responsibility to share my story if it helps even just one person out there. It wasn’t the time to be selfish.

Now the fact that people hate and say that we’re “influencers” trying to peddle something just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

We were traders long before we had influence.

These same people will never walk the walk.

They don’t know how many hours we spent on the charts.

They can’t comprehend the agony we went through to become profitable.

They’ll never relate to the work ethic we put in behind the scenes when no one was watching.

If you want to create the future you envision for yourself, you can’t give any energy to the opinion of outsiders.

Once a trader always a trader.

If you’re a real one you’ll know it, not because someone said you are… but because you KNOW you are.

Did TFT fuck up?

Absolutely.

Will they recover?

Maybe. I hope they do.

BUT,

If you are the type of person going around twitter, spamming your favourite traders/influencers you once looked up to and finding a scapegoat to your emotional instability and poor risk management,

You fucked up as well.

Who would’ve known:
- that a prop firm can go down?
- that some prop firms have already gone down in the past?
- that prop firms are Ponzi schemes?
- that prop firms can deny payouts whenever they want?

(This is irony btw, just to be clear)

That’s right, YOU could have known that.

But you didn’t WANT think about it, because you put prop firms on a pedestal and expected them to solve all your life problems.

If TFT goes down, I will lose yet another 300k of prop funding, which means that I would have lost 1M in funded capital (due to external factors, NOT my trading)

Does this bother me?

A little bit. But I understand the inherent risk of prop trading, this is what I signed up for. So we move.

Let this be the 9573th reminder that trading is ruthless.

Build up your character and manage your risk.

(Risk management in the industry, not only in your trading account).

Do you understand now why 90+% fail? It’s not always.

Please, let this be the final lesson to focus on the long game. Which is, becoming a profitable trader.

(Which goes far beyond “a profitable prop trader”)
