@Kaitlyn67287161 That's a great point. We need to be models for our students, and support companies that have good ethical values. We need to start asking questions; I like how Dr. Benjamin places importance on asking questions about the history of companies. What could we be missing? #unboundeq

@jharr5332 Thanks for the resource! I like how Dr. Noble argues for more search engines, rather than having one. Access to good knowledge and educational information, does not have to be solely based off of search engines that prioritize advertising companies online. #unboundeq

A3: Alexa can shapes human behavior by providing answers to questions. It has been noted that Alexa sometimes struggles to recognize different accents, this assumes that all of its users have a certain type of English accent and pronounce words a certain way. #unboundeq

A2: The example that Dr. Benjamin used about the green light technology, stood out to me in the video; it exposes how technology can neglect and exclude. Companies need to be aware of this and test their technology, so that it includes everyone. #unboundeq

A1b: I noticed algorithmic bias on Google Images. The search results for “hair stylist” show mainly pictures of females, however, “firefighter” shows images of mostly males. Hidden biases in the data are shown and encourages gender-biased stereotypes. #unboundeq #bias

A1a: Every time I’m on social media or make a Google search, I’m interacting with an algorithm. They influence what I read and watch, on a daily basis. I commonly browse through “recommended videos” on YouTube, however, some do not accurately represent my interests. #unboundeq
