Thanks to the dedication of our amazing team, their hearts, passion, determination and efforts Wahine Toa Rising ia now officially a registered charity.
We are beyond proud of this as 2024 comes to an end. We have lots of work to do in 2025 and we would not be here without each of you and your endless support.
Thamks to your donations we have supported 9 survivors with food vouchers, and hampers to get them through Christmas. These recent donations are now tax deductible.
We still have a long way to go and a lot of work to do as we try and create change as well as providing more frontline services.
We need your help.
We need
🌻donations.
🌻grant writer

Every member of WTR volunteers between the pockets of their already hectic lives in the hopes we can make a difference.
Keep an eye on our page.
Make sure you are following us to stay up to date with projects and campaigns coming in 2025.
Again thank you for your support.
To all the beautiful women who began this journey with me when it was just an idea. Thank you. We love and appreciate you. To those who have stood beside us through the ups and downs. The exhaustion, the mess and the sunshine. Thank you!
This is a huge win and only just the beginning of great things to come.
Gratefully

💬 "For sex buyers, power is the possession of women. Prostitution is about having power over someone weaker."
- Naima, Survivor of prostitution
#AbolishProstitution#Listentosurvivors
The sex trade left me in a state of such low self-worth that I believed I might end up in a mental health institution. In addition to an unstable upbringing this was a recipe for a disaster. But I fought back and I live to tell my story.

Poverty is a factor in the vulnerability of women and girls to prostitution
👇
The large majority are in a situation of prostitution in a context of survival, but poverty is also an obstacle preventing women from leaving this system.
#EndPovertyDay#AbolishProstitution
On June 21st, @UNSRVAW presented her historic report on Prostitution & Violence at the #HRC in Geneva. This groundbreaking report on Prostitution & Violence received unwavering support from the vast majority of countries at the HRC. https://t.co/rafiotdHDG
The report submitted for today's vote at @PACE_News is referred back to committee!
We are extremely glad about this decision, which came after the mobilisation of civil society associations, the @UNSRVAW and French trade unions. ✊
Traffickers tend to target vulnerable women and girls, but there are exacerbating factors that may increase vulnerability to trafficking, including:
❗️conflict
💲poverty and homelessness
➡️relocation/migration
The system of #prostitution is inherently violent.
We must support survivors of the #sextrade through comprehensive service provision, while holding pimps, traffickers and sex buyers to account.
We need #STSJEA now.
The #sextrade exemplifies the deep inequalities of our society today through the exploitation & objectification of women.
Women and girls everywhere deserve to reach their full potential without violence & exploitation.
We must #enddemand.

We are honoured to offer our support and congratulations to Hon Nicola Centofanti MLC @NicolaCentofan1, who has brought a Bill to the South Australian Parliament that would introduce Nordic Model-style exit strategies to anyone who has provided sex in exchange for payment and wishes to exit the industry and an option to apply for previous convictions for their own prostitution to be spent.
The Bill is due for a vote in the South Australian Parliament on Wednesday 25 September, 2024. We urge the other parliamentarians to support women and vote FOR this ground-breaking bill.
Tomorrow, a new bill by @NicolaCentofan1 designed to offer comprehensive exit strategies for people in prostitution will be submitted to the South Australia Parliament.
Thank @WahineToaRising for closely following and supporting this important bill! 💪
We support Dr. Nicola Centofanti MLC South Australia and the Exit Strategies Bill.
When we talk about choice we must make sure women and girls have choice to begin with. This bill is a great move towards true choice. @WahineToaRising@NicolaCentofan1
