Population control has been repeatedly declared a national priority by Pakistan's leadership. However, in Punjab, 2,740 experienced Family Welfare Employees—each with over 11 years of service in family planning and maternal & child health—have been sent home since 1 April,
and their salaries have been stopped.
This has happened despite a Lahore High Court order related to their case. If strengthening family planning is a national objective, why is the trained frontline workforce no longer serving communities?
