Congrats to Judy Cross and Mary Clute, who are leaving the @AlpenaCoLibrary after a combined 55 years! Both women have shown great dedication to the library, and we wish them a happy retirement. 😊 #LoveLibrarians#LoveLibraries https://t.co/iLH4Yp2Gwo
With @US_IMLS funds through @LibraryofMich, @AlpenaCoLibrary is offering new hotspots & devices for patrons to get online. Closing the #DigitalDivide is central to our work as libraries, and federal support is helping make it happen: https://t.co/OnR0cj0kH1
Went to an outstanding tour of our town's principal cemetery today, put on by @AlpenaCoLibrary. Re-enactors told the stories of people in some of the graves! It was hugely informative & fascinating. Really well done!
Had the most enjoyable & fascinating morning at @AlpenaCoLibrary, researching the history of my home & its prior owners. The research librarian was even able to find an obituary for first owner (who built the home.) Checked out a few books on the town's history, too.
Download the https://t.co/0tY66c3Ug0 app and search 'Evergreen Cemetery' to get a guided tour featuring some amazing people buried there. Plenty of great stories and rich history! (Details: https://t.co/DUxCDWjYJa)

On this day in 1904, Congress approved $5,000 for construction of a new keeper's house at the New Presque Isle Lighthouse. A year later, the steamer Amaranth unloaded building materials, including cement blocks made with a hand-tamped machine developed by @BesserCompany, Alpena.
