@_martinsh Cant wait to see what the finished project looks like! For moving objects i'm wondering if its possible to create a "trailing flowmap" that can be used in the water/wake shader to help sell the wake effect. Would require UV's tough from my understanding.
@_martinsh Have you achieved this with geometry nodes? You could add the "mask" of the ship as another layer for more subdivisions for a more detailed displacement near the ship :) I'm sure you've already got something like this tough 😅
Hey ! I made the thread on this. Very excited be able to share the project ! It was in a dream state 3 years ago, now I use it for work ! Progress is fast and motivation is high.

@gleb_alexandrov vertex colours or color attributes should also work :) A saved color attribute will be imported as "Col", the vertices seem will each have their color stored. I'm currently using .ply in combination with Photoscan Point Data, its working there too :)
@GamersNexus Have you ever benchmarked blender viewport performance with CPU/GPU combos? Looking at playback performance (fps) for animations, I've noticed some differences. Currently sitting on the fence with a cpu purchase because of it.
@BlenderBrit The only way i could see this be done would be with NLA Strips. e.g. a base animation and different variants of "expressions" that can get blended in. The blend value could be set via script & randomized. Just a tought (maybe a brain fart)
@machin3io @motiondrive_fr @ArtStationHQ@DevinElleKurtz Damn, not even subtle. I fear that this will become more and more common...
For how long was the storefront operating?
Recently I've noticed a very large issue with how both cycles and eevee handle normal maps.
Cycles and EEVEE seem to clamp any inputted normal map such that it never exceeds 45° from the mesh normals. This causes most normal maps to be somewhat broken in both engines (1/?).
@gleb_alexandrov @MarcoPPavanello has done something similiar with his camera addon. https://t.co/93Htz89lRg its able to check the exposure of the scene, in different modes. I'm 100% sure that its possible. You could then output a coordinate to a custom property in the scene.
Hello #blender people! Rigging noob here. Would it be possible to get a dynamic contact point for wheels? Its shrinkwrap on a bone to the surface currently. approx. correct would be closest to mesh in a circle around the center of a wheel could that be calculated with GN's?
It currently is not possible afaik to add buttons in the same space as space view 3d, so i've added it directly into the .py (not the nice way) Still, i just felt like trying it.
I've "added" @MarcoPPavanello great Real-Camera addon Exposure tools to the Viewport UI. Also expanded them a bit for my needs. Great if you switch between indoor & outdoor in one scene. #b3d#cycles#blender The Button & Dropdown is mostly a Mockup rn.
