Today, we learned how to log onto the big computers (chromebooks π). It was very exciting, and everyone was so patient. We had some great peer helpers who caught on quickly, and everyone was able to change their personal image. One student commented that he felt like an adult!
On Monday our butterfly emerged from its chrysalis! We let him rest and dry out for most of the day before we released him. It was a lovely experience, full of pride and excitement for his new life, and a little bit of sadness. Many have commented on how much they miss him π¦ππ

We have a chrysalis! Overnight, our caterpillar transformed into the next stage of its life cycle. We are using tally marks to track how many days it has been in the chrysalis. We can't wait to observe the metamorphosis (a new science word we learned today.)
We had the BEST time meeting our Grade 5/6 learning buddies yesterday! We interviewed them with a sheet our class created, and then we got to read together. We are looking forward to a fun year of learning with the students from Room 7!
Room 10's new friend who will join our class on Monday! Hopefully he'll still be a caterpillar so we are able to observe him through two transformations. He sure ate a lot today, so time will tell.
My finger marks the height of this sunflower when I planted it on the last day of school after receiving it from a student. Look at it now (ignore the weeds)! We almost have a flower! Thanks to Shane and family for such a thoughtful gift that truly demonstrates perseverance.
We got to know each other and practice making tally marks by surveying our classmates and collecting data on Room 10's favourite colours. Ask your child what they discovered during their survey.
In math, we answered survey ?s on our Smartboard. We loved learning to manipulate it, and we took to it so quickly. It's not the newest technology, but it's already provided us with engaging opportunities. We are appreciating what we have rather than wanting whatever's newest.
It's been a fun and busy week in Room 10! We drew ourselves and decorated fish describing what we want to learn about this year. We created pencil glyphs with information about ourselves, and we began our Memory Books. Hopefully everyone gets lots of rest this weekend!
Thank you @CreeksideOn for your incredibly generous donation of pizza for all the staff and students at @alpwrdsb! We are very grateful for your kindness!
We've enjoyed phys. ed. classes outside in the nice weather. We've spent lots of time on the playground, and learned about some track and field sports, like softball throw, relay, and long jump.
I haven't tweeted in ages, but that doesn't mean we haven't been working hard and having fun in Room 10! Stay tuned for some collages of our recent activities.
Our Room 10 Optimism Sun. So many warm feelings and positive ideas were shared on our sun's rays. Look for them tomorrow at our annual Alpine Family Breakfast! See you at 8:15!
Today was our ice cream party!! Thanks to Alpine's Parent Council for providing fun treats and for serving. Thanks to the Room 10 families who returned their pledge forms, especially Abby who raised $300, allowing us to earn this fun surprise! What a great way to end the day!
More badminton fun! We are now able to hit the birdie so many more times in a row compared to when we started. We really enjoyed our gym class surrounded by all of the optimism suns! Alpine is a happy place to be!
