If you think your opponents are bad, you need to be better than they are. It's always worth working to be the good guy, and to make it obvious that you are.
@patio11 I used to have to do the paperwork for unclaimed property on investment accounts. It is hell, and it mostly serves to screw people over in practice, not to actually get them their money back. Miserable work, made me hate those laws.
@xskipjackx@asymmetricinfo I'm going by the media coverage, not the Congressional hearings or FBI investigation. The media was obviously not in Kavanaugh's pocket (aside from conservative outlets, of course, but I'm setting them aside here), so they had no incentive to downplay other claims.
@ByronLWalden@asymmetricinfo Because nobody cares about this guy.
Is his local media covering it, at least? Seems like he's in the Cleveland suburbs, and here's what I see searching https://t.co/x0JMyTX5gp (the first Google hit I got for a local news source there). So coverage, but not wall-to-wall.
@Scotusjroberts@asymmetricinfo Let's see, one is a famous moderate, and the other is a wacky extremist, Nazi-curious, an obvious sex pest, a rape enthusiast, and a domestic abuser.
You're right, this is a really hard choice.
@sambaer1960@asymmetricinfo@koolerkeith Did she say any of it under oath, in a context where perjury laws apply? I thought it was mostly media coverage.
Also, perjury is a notoriously hard one to prove, and the Trump DoJ already gets accused constantly of punishing political opponents. May not be a good fight to pick.
@xskipjackx@asymmetricinfo Given how huge a news story that was, I'm sure there were plenty of reporters who'd happily have published it.
But all we got was Ford, and a few with either obvious mental illness or obvious partisan axes to grind, making claims that were very clearly not credible.
@ByronLWalden@asymmetricinfo Again, never heard of the guy, and I'm certainly not his constituent. But if this is legit (and it sounds to be), then I hope he has a very bad time at the polls. Maybe also a very bad time in court, depending.
@EdFitzcarraldo@asymmetricinfo There's far more than that, but most of them would explode if they had to deal with Twitter, so they stay off the hellsite and lead their lives instead.
@ByronLWalden@asymmetricinfo I think Platner is just seen as inherently newsworthy, like Trump in 2016. He's got a devoted following on one wing, and everyone else thinks he's utter slime, but we all click on stories about him.
The only Max Miller I've ever heard of is a historical food YouTuber.
