@mindfullymath A5: start simple with breathing exercises and branch out to have students list what activists they enjoy and have them share out during a virtual classroom setting or create a video or slide deck to show their different experiences. #altedchat
@mindfullymath A2: I'm feeling excited to see what types of technology we will realize we can never do without after this semester. I need a better home office.
@Enes_Kanter I teach history in Sacramento and often use @NewsHour for current events. My kids love basketball (GO KINGS) I'll be sharing your story as apart of my current events. Thank you for sharing and I hope someday soon you can reconnect with your family. #useyourplatform
@AmyPetersilie A4: I totally agree with @AmyPetersilie! Providing that guidance for Ss is crucial but also giving them the space to learn on their own. As a newer teacher in #alted this has been the best advice from experienced #alted Ts.
A2: I've seen this in gender identification situations where the parent chooses a version of planA that does not totally embrace their student or their choices. In my experiences, Ss benefit the most when everyone listens to the student's concerns. #altedchat
I noticed many said empathy and I read that in the book as well and was wondering if empathy comes before or at the same times as identification? #altedchat
A1: I felt like the authro of #lostatschool has been screaming at me identify identify identify since I've opened this book. I love that approach becasue one has to know where they are going before they can get there. #altedchat
@TraceyEnser Hey everyone! I'm out of Sacramento and I teach 10-12 high school social sciences. This summer I've picked back up swimming and currently watching the @Dodgers so tonight may be tough to keep up and cheer. #altedchat

Watch the @NewsHour tonight. The first of our exclusive series from #Yemen airs, bringing viewers inside rebel-held areas where hunger has reached devastating levels. The country is on the brink of a terrible famine and it’s all preventable. #pbsnews#pbs#realnees#sanaa
@JaneFerguson5@NewsHour Thank you for your courage to highlight the terrible situation going on in Yemen. I'm glad to see you're safe and look forward to sharing your work with my students.
@IEPs4BD @PrincipalCates I don't think I did either. I'm a "newer" teacher in Sacramento. I teach in a continuation/alted setting for high school students. I teach history and currently our WASC coordinator for my site.
#altedchat folks thanks for having me and thanks to @PrincipalCates for pointing this group out to me. So many helpful thoughts. Thank you all. See you next week. #LostatSchool
