@DanCrenshawTX If you knew anything about this topic, you'd know that taxes will not go up to pay for it. Also, if you were a decent human you would realize that helping others helps yourself. This debt did not exist for our grandparents and should not exist now. Failed capitalist experiment!
@RepJoshHarder@alexisgoldstein defrauded students have been waiting over 4 yrs for relief from fraudulent debt from predatory schools. The time for decorum is over. Thank you for representing students and fighting injustice.
@virginiafoxx Your defense of Devos and her inability to #defendstudents is shameful. The US gov shouldn't be making ANY money off of students, esp those who attended a fraudulent for-profits. You are guarding corporations, not students. Time for decorum is over. Do your job.
@RepMeuser shameful defense of Devos today. Students from fraudulent schools are also constituents and taxpayers. They see the people who are defending a woman whose purpose is to defend corrupt schools and corporations and not students. #defendstudents
@BorrowedFuture Ask Mr. Ramsey what will happen as this generation under student debt ages and encounters life events and take on medical debt as well-- either for them, their parents, or their children. Ask if he actually has any solutions other than "be smarter" This is all going to get worse.
@BorrowedFuture If you are defending student debt and shaming those who have it, then you are defending a predatory lending industry as well as a government that has turned higher ed into their private piggy bank- all while the middle class is burdened with needless debt they cannot escape.
@teamfurball@BorrowedFuture@RachelCruze The only way to solve the problem is to look at the cause and not the effect. People being in debt is the effect. The cause is the corruption of predatory companies and the politicians who protect them.
@teamfurball@BorrowedFuture@RachelCruze these podcasts are pretty much about victim shaming and playing down the fact that there is a crisis at all. It is all promoting the idea of moving toward further privatization of higher ed.
It is nobody's fault that they are in this debt. We should have never had student debt.
@AnthonyONeal@BorrowedFuture Imagine a world where you have the highest educated workforce on the planet with no debt-- and you might be in the United States sometime between 1945 and 1970.
@BorrowedFuture the forgiveness progam is not the failure. The higher education model that has the ability to place crushing debt on the heads of students at all is the failure.
@BorrowedFuture@RachelCruze The number one mistake that students should never have been able TO make is college" --> because the gov has continually rolled back protections for students and sided with bad schools. Victim blaming is not solving anything.
@BorrowedFuture Please watch the film "Fail State" to understand the real reasons why we now have a massive student loan crisis in the US today. We need to do away with the culture of victim shaming that people like Dave Ramsey perpetuate. The root of the problem is the corrupt schools and corps
@GeorgeKamel@BorrowedFuture@ApplePodcasts We should be working to destroy the traps, because we REALIZE that they are traps--- instead of learning to avoid them. Making people collectively smarter is not a realistic solution.
@Thequeenoffree@BorrowedFuture@AnthonyONeal@DaveRamsey there was a lot of victim-blaming instead of critical insight into the real reasons why we now have student debt- the corruption of predatory schools and companies and the politicians who defend and profit off of them.
@AnthonyONeal Victim blaming is not going to do anything to reform the higher ed system and end the systemic corruption that has landed millions in massive student debt.
@megan_henney please tell Ann Schmidt that articles like https://t.co/6YcprD7hhk are a cancer to needed progress. Share actual research data from studies like https://t.co/AssN1qZADT instead of promoting a mysterious "poll" to promotes a false narrative. Thanks.
@mckaylamhumbert@ProfMJCleveland@FDRLST Definitely read "The Macroeconomic Effects of Student Debt Cancelation" by the Levy Institute. It is a 6 yr study that shows the positive impact that canceling all would have on the economy. Also a detailed plan of how to do it. The PDF of the entire thing is free online.
