The Turks already lived there before the Turkish goverment take the north. In 1974, Greek fascist junta overthrow the democratically elected govt in Cyprus and declared annexation of Cyprus to Greece. And started ethnic cleansing against Turks in Cyprus. And then Turkey has used its legal guarantor rights from the 1960 treaty of guarantee-article 4 and intervened Cyprus in order to save Turks and anti-coup Greeks from Eoka terror.
