A child splashed water in my face at a park in Toronto yesterday.

I was not even in the water section.

I was about to say something.

Then the child looked at me and said “it’s a water park.”

I had no response to that. Legally or morally.

Then I looked at the parents hoping for backup.

Back home that parent would have dragged that child by the ear before I said a word.

These ones watched their child splash me, said nothing and encouraged them to keep playing.

The Nigerian in me had a full conversation in my head that I will never repeat out loud.
