Grab your duo, Skirmish is coming back! While we originally planned to rotate Skirmish out in Patch 12.05, we’re bringing it back starting the morning of March 19, Pacific Time.
As we continue experimenting with limited-time modes, we know some will resonate more than others. Skirmish has proven very popular, and your continued engagement and positive feedback have reinforced our confidence in this mode.
We’ll keep monitoring queue health and performance as we go. Keep the feedback coming!
@2016archive Selfish play patterns will always be more popular than more selfless or team oriented ones, especially in uncoordinated environments (solo queue). 100%
Same pick rate for all Controllers isn't the goal, but we want them to be balanced. Clove's just way too far ahead right now.
Hey all - want to share some of the philosophy behind the updates to Yoru and Clove. We strive for balance that supports healthy pick diversity at all skill levels while rewarding coordinated teamplay - and currently, we believe that Clove and Yoru are too powerful overall (1/4)
@ScraftMike It's on our mind for sure. This is a frequent point of conversation regarding Clove, actually - post-death smokes are insanely powerful in our game, but it doesn't contribute a ton to the "fun" factor of the character.
We need agents to be both fun to play and balanced, agreed.
@Marpkat_ This is actually not true. Clove is picked about twice as often as Omen in Competitive queue.
Agreed that Clove is much less prevalent in Competitive play, though - that's another opportunity for us to improve in the future.
to play. Currently, their post-death smoke provides very consistent value with too little room for counterplay. This change lessens their power, removing the ability to fully defuse the spike inside a smoke. Our goal with these changes is to foster more Controller variety. (4/4)
and reduce comp diversity. We’re adjusting his strongest base abilities so that using them has more meaningful tradeoffs.
Clove: Since their launch, Clove has been the highest win rate agent in the game by a wide margin, while also being one of the most popular agents (3/4)
We've just opened up a Product Manager position on VALORANT gameplay in LA! We're open to a variety of experience levels, including candidates earlier on in their careers. Gameplay roles don't open up too often, so if you're interested, be sure to apply!

@quokkastaire It mostly gives us flexibility and speed. When you build something into the client, you have to make a lot of considerations and tradeoffs with everything else there. Going web-based gives you more flexibility as a result. That lets us experiment with new things to see what works
As a heads up, we’ve found a bug this patch that impacts Skirmish. If you use the End Game Phase cheat within 0.1 seconds of the round ending, you can get frozen in that round state until that server closes (~90 mins).
We’re working on a fix. Be careful with that Skirmish cheat!
New Mode, New Pistol, New Breeze - plus some agent changes, some wall pen updates on Haven/Corrode, and more.
Really excited for this patch to kick off the year - go make some Bandit frag reels 🔫
