After months of planning, the new look Alton Bus Rally & Running Day took place at Alton College yesterday. We hope you had an enjoyable day. Many thanks to all those that attended the event and supported us. Without you we would not have an event.

Alternative roads in the area, some of which are single track roads with infrequent passing places, are NOT suitable for large vehicles or significant volumes of diverted long distance traffic.

We have been made aware the A32 will be CLOSED between A32 / A272 junction at West Meon Hut and Petersfield Road, Monkwood junction for road works from approximately 08:00 to 18:00 this SUNDAY (21st July).

The signed (lengthy) diversion, which is suitable for large vehicles, is via A272 to the A31 junction near Winchester and then the A31 to Alton.

There is plenty of parking in the centre of #Alton and on top of that we are running a FREE to ride Park & Ride service to get to the college. Please see the photos attached to this post for the car parks available around Alton and the bus stop are a short walk from the car parks

This year with our new style event which is taking place at Alton College, there is NO parking on site or nearby.

**Please DO NOT try and park onsite or nearby, as you will be turned away.**

@hantshighways is the A32 closed during the day on Sunday or is it night closures? Your signs are contradicting. Could you let us know asap, as we need to advise attendees to our event on Sunday.

Feeder services will operated from #Winchester by @FoKAB1985 and #Basingstoke on Sunday for our event. Also, Town services will also operate to get you to & from our new look event. The relevant timetables are attached. All services are FREE to ride. A programme will be available

**EVENT UPDATE**

The organisers have taken on board the constructive comments, suggestions and feedback we received when we announced the cancellation of the 2023 event.

The team are considering all of these, along with our own ideas, whilst looking at ways to resolve or sufficiently mitigate the issues surrounding the 2023 event with a view to holding an event on Sunday 21st July 2024.
