At approximately 03:00, drone surveillance over Crown Mines, Johannesburg, detected suspicious activity at a property. Ground teams responded and confirmed the establishment was illegally operating as an abattoir.

Gauteng Provincial #StockTheft and Endangered Species Investigators as well as Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management are currently processing the scene. Six illegal immigrants have been arrested.

The owner of the establishment will be arrested for hiring illegal immigrants.

The Vatsonga Machangani community has planned a peaceful march aimed at raising awareness against the ongoing harassment and profiling of Tonga-speaking South Africans.

The march is planned to start at Beyers Naudé Square at 10:00 and proceed through the Johannesburg CBD, Braamfontein, and Parktown before concluding at the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) offices in Parktown, Gauteng on Friday, 26 June 2026.

Subsequently, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department [JMPD] has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the march, expected to attract around 1,000 participants.

Organisers say they demand dignity, equality, and recognition as constitutionally protected citizens.

The procession is scheduled to depart at 11:00, with a memorandum set to be handed over to the Acting Provincial Manager of the SAHRC Gauteng Office at 13:00. The event is expected to conclude by 14:30.
