For three days, 2-4 June, 2026 @uonbi through the @dojmc_uon , @HumanitiesUoN has brought together the final year film students, to showcase short films that they produced as part of their final year projects.
The VUKA FILM Festival is a platform that brings together the Creative industry, government and government agencies and the academia for a discourse on the landscape of the industry in Kenya and the continent. The platform, from its name, Vuka, is a symbol of crossing over for the final year students that are transitioning to the industry.
This year, on the 3rd day (4th June), will be the awards ceremony and the launch of an incubation hub- Africa Media Innovation Lab (AMILab) that will host winners of the various categories for two weeks to go through a rigorous mentorship and innovation incubation.
We would like to appreciate all the partners, the keynote speakers, the jurors from the industry and our Faculty that have made this event possible.
It is day 2 at the Chandaria Auditorium. Join us and watch short films on the theme- Living through change-

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Gitau this morning continued his strategic engagements with key University stakeholders, meeting the leadership of the University of Nairobi Alumni Association @AlumniUON. The engagements form part of ongoing efforts to foster stronger institutional cohesion, enhance collaboration, and build renewed momentum towards the University’s strategic priorities.
Guided by the Alumni Association’s theme, “Our Alumni, Our Strength,” the engagement underscored a clear strategic imperative to unlock and actively mobilize the full potential of the University’s more than 286,000-strong alumni network as a central pillar of institutional transformation.
The discussions recognized that alumni are not simply former students, but the University’s most significant living legacy, with influence across national leadership: the judiciary, academia, government, industry, business, and innovation. This network represents a powerful source of expertise, goodwill, resources, and strategic influence.
The engagement therefore emphasized the need to reactivate structured and meaningful alumni participation in the University’s core agenda, including student mentorship, research collaboration, resource mobilization, industry linkages, and strengthening the University’s global visibility and impact. #WeareUoN

The University of Nairobi @UoNLawFaculty today convened the 3rd National Stakeholder Engagement Forum on National Land Policy Reforms, building on earlier engagements that have progressively shaped national conversations on Kenya’s evolving land governance framework. Bringing together policymakers, scholars, civil society, and development partners, the forum reviewed the Draft National Land Policy 2025 and interrogated critical issues affecting the land sector including tenure insecurity, historical land injustices, institutional gaps, and sustainable land governance.
The engagement built on outcomes from previous stakeholder consultations that informed the development of a policy brief identifying inconsistencies, policy gaps, and areas of incomplete theorisation within the Draft National Land Policy 2025, while emphasizing the need for a coherent, practical, and implementation-focused policy framework aligned with existing legal and governance structures.
Deliberations during the forum focused on strategic reform areas including community land governance, land management systems, land information governance, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
The forum is expected to contribute to a consolidated stakeholder position paper, a stakeholder engagement framework for continuous public participation, and a policy validation report for submission to the Ministry of Lands. The engagement was supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) through the EU/FAO Digital Land Governance Programme.
