Trump Pulled in at Least $2 Billion After Returning to the White House

The earthquakes have escalated the constant tensions between Maria Corina Machado and Trump’s White House into something approaching a divorce. All happy marriages are alike, Tolstoy said. Each unhappy marriage is unhappy in its own way. With @tylerpager

Exclusive: Oman proposes Strait of Hormuz fee plan. Under the proposal, Iran and Oman would collect payment for ships passing through the Strait and would call it a service fee not tolls. w/ @viviannereim@ErikaSolomon

JUST IN: #SCOTUS spokesperson knocks down withdrawn NPR report that Alito has retired. "NPR's reporting regarding Justice Alito is inaccurate. And their reporting that there was any kind of court statement is inaccurate." -- Patricia McCabe, Supreme Court spokesperson
U.S.-Iran signed MOU just over a week ago, but can’t agree on what that deal says. It calls on Iran to “arrange” for safe passage of ships through the Strait for 60 days, but it doesn’t define how. Iran clearly thinks it now manages the Strait - a power it didn’t have before this war began.
But despite these escalations, a senior administration official tells me tonight the next round of talks is still going ahead as planned in the coming days, and the two sides are still exchanging messages. @ABC
A man and his teen son were found alive Sunday under the rubble in Venezuela four days after powerful twin earthquakes rocked the country, as the death toll hit 1,450 and hopes of such rescues dwindled. https://t.co/Ksl4HGH1ZE
SCOOP: Details on Maria Corina #Machado’s plans to return to #Venezuela, and on her attempt to travel there last week after the earthquakes.
1) Machado attempted to travel to Venezuela last week via Curacao, but called it off after the Trump administration made clear to the Dutch island, to Venezuelan authorities and to Machado’s team that the US didn’t support her return at this moment
2) Machado had hired private security contractors to get her into Venezuela and protect her while there. They've been in Curacao preparing for her arrival there, to take her to Venezuela
3) Machado doesn’t have a valid/current passport and requires permission to travel, so her entry into Venezuela would have been illegal without permission from Delcy Rodriguez’s government
4) The US feared a conflict with Venezuelan security forces, either on arrival or once inside the country
5) Machado still wants to make a quick return, but it’s not clear what the feasibility is after last week’s aborted journey

Trump has a new side project: counting the number of trees in a public park across the street from the White House.
He wants Lafayette Square to feature 47 trees — to match his 47th presidency, per people familiar.

NEW - President Donald Trump handed Speaker Mike Johnson a lifeline yesterday to get Republicans’ agenda back on track next week.
But GOP hard-liners’ festering discontent over Trump’s stalled elections bill could jam the chamber again next week - even after his call for them to end a floor blockade over the SAVE America Act.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna wants the SAVE America Act or at least a voter ID + citizenship requirement added to the NDAA in order to vote for the rule. Other hardliners like Rep. Chip Roy are currently NO votes on the rule unless leadership makes concessions on a promised immigration/HR2 vote and other items, per sources.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune told @jordainc that attaching the Save America Act to the NDAA would sink the massive, must-pass defense policy bill in the Senate.
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), an Armed Services Committee member who helped write the NDAA, told @politico of Luna's blockade:
“She’s going to have to start being a team player here. I mean, you can’t be a team of one. It’s not an institution that can function with one rogue member, especially in the small majority you have.”

America falsely claims our unfrozen assets will buy their agriculture. Interesting. The only crop we're harvesting is what you planted: decades of mistrust. It's organic, abundant, and homegrown. But apparently the US only exports GMO soybeans, broken promises and trash talks.
