Immigrant Defenders Law Center confirms that on Friday, July 18, 2025, Andry Hernández Romero and over 250 Venezuelan men -- who were denied due process and were disappeared by the U.S. government to El Salvador’s notorious maximum-security CECOT prison on March 15, 2025 -- were released from CECOT and sent to Venezuela.

Thank you to all the Reps who spoke on the floor to demand Justice for Andry, Kilmar, & other VZ people wrongly accused as Tren de Aragua members and denied due process. Thank you @RepMarkTakano@RepRobertGarcia for standing with Andry! #FreeAndry#BringThemBack
EAST COAST: TUNE IN NOW TO @CBSNews@60Minutes THE PRISONERS – The Trump admin says they are all violent gang members and terrorists but after obtaining internal govt docs, #60MINUTES could find NO criminal records for most. @CeciliaVega@camiloreports#FreeAndry
Please tune in to @60Minutes tonight 7pm on @CBSNews to hear my interview about our @ImmDef client Andry, the makeup artist who was disappeared to El Salvador because of tattoos.
We are not giving up on him, we are not backing down until he is freed.

Returning to X to shine a light on what the Alien Enemies Act looks like IRL. Our @ImmDef client fled Venezuela last year & came to US to seek asylum. He has a strong claim. He was detained at entry because ICE alleged his tattoos are gang related. They are absolutely not. 🧵
This is a shameful moment. U.S. immigration policy should not slam the door in the face of those seeking safety. We must show up with moral integrity to modernize broken systems -- not solidify policies that will force family separations for generations to come.
“Surprising absolutely no one, today Texas and 15 other anti-immigrant state governments filed a lawsuit attempting to halt the Biden-Harris Administration's Keeping Families Together program. This program is a commonsense, smart, and humane approach to ensuring that spouses of U.S. citizens with long-established ties to the country are able to remain with their loved ones. Why does Texas want to tear families apart, in their own state and beyond? The anti-family politics of cruelty must end." - @AlvaroMHuerta Dir. of Litigation & Advocacy
What our broken immigration system needs is a nominee with political courage to find solutions, not point fingers. We need truthful discourse, not lies. We don't need a border shutdown OR mass deportations. We need more lawful pathways and to restore asylum. NOW.
Trump spouting lies and fomenting hate about the border and essentially no response from moderators to fact check or make him answer the deportation question? Both sides using immigrants as punching bag while human lives hang in the balance. Shameful.
Immigration policy solutions rooted in dignity and due process must not be perceived as a compromise, it is our moral and legal obligation. Our Director @L_Toczylowski shared her thoughts with @NBCNews Meet the Press Now.

Thank you to the advocates who worked tirelessly for this achievement. “We must make clear that relief for some cannot come at the expense of those who are seeking protection at our border and through our asylum system."

As soon as I sent this we got notice that all CFIs are on hold. Prep sessions cancelled for afternoon, not sure if interviews will happen tomorrow. Once again, totally unclear what govt is doing, our client’s lives hang in the balance & attys rushing to help are now told to wait.
Biden’s EO gutting asylum is 3 days old & today phone calls from CBP began incl a mom with 3 kids. Ppl scheduled for fear intws starting 6am tomorrow, so @ImmDef rushed to meet with them today. Tapped attys from all ImmDef offices to help & still unable to meet need. #SaveAsylum
“This is a cynical effort by the administration to make themselves look tougher at the border, but it’s really going to shut down avenues, lifesaving avenues, for asylum seekers,” says ImmDef Director of Litigation & Advocacy @AlvaroMHuerta

What it will do is force thousands of people—including families and children—back to dangerous conditions. It will separate families. And it will give America a black eye for failing to live up to its ideals by refusing to welcome immigrants and asylum seekers.
The Biden administration seems hell-bent on chasing anti-immigrant ideologues down the rabbit hole of failed deterrence policies in a cynical effort to make themselves look tougher at the border. But taking a page from the Trump playbook is not going to score Biden any points.
President Biden's anti-immigrant executive order is an abomination to our asylum system. America has the capacity to welcome asylum seekers, this is proven in cities like LA and SD. To end disorder, we need to end deterrence policies and increase legal pathways to citizenship.
Surreal to have just arrived at a shelter in Tijuana just as Biden executive order drops. Stopping to read it so I can let ppl here know how it impacts them. What is clear already is this will only make things at the shelters we serve more desperate. https://t.co/tAy6Q8oLWU
