Now that the trip is almost over, I want to answer one of the questions we’ve been asked the most: “How are you guys able to afford a trip like this?”

The answer is actually pretty simple. We saved up for this trip over the past year, and it wasn’t nearly as expensive as most people probably assume.

We stayed mostly in budget hotels, and always split the cost between the three of us. Our flight to the US was also only 255€ for example. The biggest expenses were the rental cars and World Cup tickets.

In total the 6 weeks here with everything combined probably cost around 6-7k (It‘s probably 6k but since we also saved money thanks to invitations like the hotel stay in Houston, let‘s say it would’ve been around 7k). I know that’s still a lot of money, but it’s nowhere near what some people seemed to think we were spending. We met other World Cup tourists who told us their trips cost more than $40,000. If you‘re ok with not living in luxury than travelling doesn‘t need to be this expensive.

I’ll calculate the exact total once I’m back home.

The World Cup is over and many, including myself, fly home today. I leave with a heavy heart, but also with excitement at the prospect of returning in the very near future. America, Canada and Mexico deserve enormous credit for hosting an awesome tournament. I spent the entire time in America - a country many cynical people said would be a disaster of a host. The truth, in the end, was exactly the opposite. I had the most incredible experience across various US States and Cities during the event, and met so many wonderful, kind and welcoming people in real life, and online. And as you know, I plan to come back to live. More on that soon. So THANK YOU to you all. 🚨#BREAKING: A 14-year-old boy is being praised as a HERO after he used his LASSO to SAVE A DROWNING MAN AND DRAG HIM TO SHORE...

...ON HIS FIRST THROW!!!

His name is Jory Thomas, he's a 14-year-old from Montana.

On July 5, he was camping with his family near Greycliff when a raft and paddleboard slammed into a bridge pillar and threw four people into the river.

Three made it out... but one man did not.

He kept drifting downstream, clinging to a cooler, the current pulling him away fast.

"We all heard, 'Help, help'… and he wasn't saying anything."

Jory didn't wait. He emptied his pockets, ran through a waist-deep channel, and sprinted down the riverbank to catch up to him.

And this year, for the very first time, he'd brought his lariat.

His grandmother Sandy said they've camped at that spot for years and he had NEVER, EVER brought his rope before.

"And that day he did."

Jory took his 12-foot lariat, aimed at a drowning stranger, and threw.

"Luckily, I caught him first try."

FIRST throw!!!

He roped him and hen he pulled that man through chest-deep water all the way to shore and held on until first responders arrived.

His dad and his brothers are on the local fire department. Jory knew waiting wasn't an option.

"God was basically putting me in the place of all this."

His grandma wasn't even surprised.

"His first instinct always is to help other people. He's always been that way."

A 14-year-old spent all year roping a practice dummy in his backyard because he loved it…

…and it made him the reason a man is alive today.

GOD BLESS Jory Thomas and GOD BLESS the family raising a boy like this.
