Discussed a paper by Alex Bell, @BillingsEcon, @sophcalderwang, and @ShushengZhong at NBER Real Estate today. It’s an exciting, very novel paper showing a new way to identify and estimate hedonic price functions using an "anti-IV"!

Just finished reading Streets of Gold by Abramitzky and @leah_boustan. As an economist, immigrant, (and fan of MythBusters), I really enjoyed this myth-busting tale of immigration written by economists.

The real cost of homeownership varies over time, across space, and with household demographics. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act increased these costs differently for demographic groups, from Kelly Bishop, Jakob Dowling, Nicolai V. Kuminoff, and Alvin Murphy https://t.co/3de5jhpbA1
Just finished reading The Lady Tasting Tea by David Salsburg, a light and enjoyable history of statistics and statisticians. It gives some nice background to the evolution of statistics (e.g. Fisher v. Neyman-Pearson testing) as well as plenty early 20thcentury statistics gossip!
Just finished reading The Book of Why by @yudapearl. A very interesting read. I already cover some of Pearl’s work in my grad econometrics class -- it may be time to add a little more! Next book up for me: The Lady Tasting Tea.
