Great move. I’ve heard the #Canucks dressing room is solid and never has any drama and that our mature players will be able to handle Kane’s personality.
This is the problem with #Vancouver public infrastructure in a nutshell: under-fund & under-build and then wonder why everything is overcapacity.
From pools and gyms to housing and schools, we consistently fail to plan for future generations (and in many cases current needs).
This week, Vancouver City Council will decide on whether to provide an extra $22.4 million for the new Vancouver Aquatic Centre project with a 25-metre pool.
Swim clubs and other opponents still urging for a 50-metre pool. #vanpolil#vanre

As #Vancouver Council debates the Safeway rezoning, a friendly reminder that Grandview Woodlands has build so few homes its *lost* population.
I grew up in GW, and have watched so many of my friends leave.
It’s time to make room for new neighbours again. #vanpoli#vanre
@veewhyayess @CityHallWchVAN Yes, east side has carried a lot of the weight of development for most of the city for the last several decades (esp mt pleasant) but within that, GW has been near the bottom of the list for pop change (worse than Shaughnessy per Jens' chart)
This is what happens when you don’t study history, or when you don’t talk to people from other parts of the world, or you don’t stop to think where your ‘stuff’ comes from.
You think that you are the only ones who love their country and do/make important things.
Trump: #FAAFO
@Tacosdad1@ianbremmer Incorrect. What really happened is that consumers paid more. And when prices came down (more than a year later) it was because of natural cycles between models (older models cost less than new ones).
I was @adriandix 's comms director during COVID-19, an opportunity for which I'll always be grateful. I saw first-hand how smart, dedicated and unstoppable Adrian is, and how his work alongside Dr. Henry saved countless lives. Can't wait to see what he can do in his new role.
Ugh, what a gut punch. John Horgan was many things: a champion of working people, a skilled leader, an excellent communicator.
But the most important: an optimist. And it rubbed off on people.
It is rare the leader who can make you believe tomorrow will be better. But he could.
John Horgan’s death leaves us with heavy hearts. John loved this province and its people. He sought to build a better, stronger British Columbia for everyone.
His beloved wife, Ellie, and sons, Evan and Nate, are in our thoughts and prayers.
I was the Campaign Manager for the Provincial Conservatives in BC.
This morning, I personally took part in counting some of the final ballots in Surrey-Guildford. @ElectionsBC staff were all incredibly diligent in their work and very thorough in ensuring transparency.
I feel confident in their work.
We now await a judicial recount in at least one riding. Regardless of whether we pull that off or even if David Eby wins government by one single vote—this is democracy.
We will have more updates as more information is made available.
JUST IN... Vancouver City Council has directed City staff to restore the ability for natural gas heating in new home construction.
It's asserted this would improve housing affordability and energy resiliency. #bcpoli#vanpoli#vanre

If you’re a #Canucks or #Flames fan you’re probably ecstatic right now, as you should be. That has to hurt far more than a sweep would have.
The idea of a #CanadasTeam in a North American league is pure non-sense.
Happy for @strombone1 that he’ll get a much deserved ring. Maurice & OEL too.
That said, Connor McDavid is a champion. Period. He’s the most the most talented player in the history of the game IMO & I do hope he gets his 💍 someday. Would be a tragedy for it never to happen. The fact that some marginal player that’s a healthy scratch gets his name on the cup & gets to call themselves a champion & 97 doesn’t is unfortunate, but that’s how it works.
Beyond that it would have been nice for the 30-year drought to have ended, only so that we could stop talking about it. Otherwise it’s irrelevant.
Back to my vacation, summer & 🏈 season 😎
This is a brilliant thread about an historic opportunity Toronto has to reinvent its waterfront.
Vancouver is going through some waterfront planning and while we have historically made a lot of good decisions, it's time to learn from other cities and be bold.
Last week, I joined @Waterfront4All and @MoreNeighbours to discuss the future of Toronto’s Villiers Island and Keating Channel districts.
There have been many criticisms of the plan, championed especially by @alexbozikovic
Here is some of my thinking (a 🧵) 1/X
