"Our people are not happy. People are maybe organizing against the Premier.. she brought that upon herself."
Mitch Sylvestre says Premier Danielle Smith is losing her base after she announced she would not hold a referendum on Alberta Independence this fall.
The federalist argument is always fear.
Too risky. Too complicated.
Yet more than 30 countries have become independent since 1990.
But Alberta, one of the most resource-rich and entrepreneurial places on earth, is supposed to be incapable?
Give me a break.
Let me get this straight.
Albertans having dual Alberta-Canada citizenship after independence is somehow “impossible” or “crazy”?
Mark Carney held THREE citizenships — Canadian, British and Irish — and that didn’t stop him from becoming Prime Minister of Canada.
Millions of people around the world hold dual or multiple citizenships.
The real question isn’t whether dual citizenship is possible. It is.
The real question is why some people are so terrified of Albertans having more freedom, more choices and more control over their own future.
Alberta First. Always.
One of the CRAZIEST streaks in sports has been extended another year 🤯
With Rasmus Andersson reaching the Stanley Cup Final, a former teammate of Jaromir Jagr has now appeared in the Final in 46 straight seasons 🏆
The biggest flaw in the “save Canada” conservative argument is this:
For 11 years, Eastern Canada has voted for more of the same.
The majority of Canadians don’t believe the country is broken, even as it becomes one of the fastest-declining nations in the G7.
There is no democratic path inside confederation to fix equalization, repair the West’s grievances, or reverse the damage when most of the country won’t even admit there’s a problem.
Jason Kenney. Pierre Poilievre. Stephen Harper. Conservative MPs.
What do they all have in common?
They are part of the conservative establishment, and they know exactly what Alberta independence means.
It means the CPC’s path to power in Ottawa becomes slim to none.
Alberta independence would be a disaster for the Conservative Party.
But it would be a massive opportunity for Albertans.
We would control our own government, elect leaders who actually represent our interests and values, and unlock the full power of our $9 trillion in resource wealth.
So when conservative establishment figures come out against Alberta independence, understand what is really happening.
They are protecting their future in Ottawa.
Not yours.
Alberta’s Treasurer @JasonNixonAB says he doesn’t know how Alberta would sell its oil if Alberta were a new country.
The answer seems obvious: the same way we sell it now — private producers, contracts, pipelines, ports, and global buyers.
Only it would be easier, more profitable, and more beneficial to Albertans without Bill C-69 holding our industry back, or carbon taxes, and Net Zero/Pathways nonsense wasting taxpayer dollars.
🚨 $544 BILLION.
That’s how much Canada has spent importing foreign oil since 1988 — from Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Venezuela, Russia, Angola, Malaysia, Norway…
All while sitting on one of the largest, safest, most ethical oil reserves on Earth.
And why?
Because Ottawa refuses to build a single East-West pipeline that would keep Canadian energy in Canada, keep Canadian dollars in Canada, and keep Canadian workers employed in Canada. 🇨🇦
For 36 years we’ve been enriching dictatorships while bankrupting our own economy ..all in the name of “virtue.”
No serious country does this.
Only Canada does.🇨🇦
It’s time to stop importing the world’s oil and start exporting Canada’s future.

Poilievre makes the BEST point here
If Donald Trump is to blame for Canada being in a recession
WHY is no other country in a recession?
WHY is MEXICO not in a recession??
BREAKING 🚨
Premier Smith says "transition costs for an independent Alberta could be as much as $400 billion."
2 studies have already been done. The London School of Economics says…
"In the Canada-Quebec case, cost estimates of institutional restructuring ranged from .40% to 1% of GDP."
https://t.co/b5RDtMrD1r
The Scotland independence debate is the most thoroughly researched modern case of a wealthy, developed region contemplating separation from a larger federation.
Professor Patrick Dunleavy of the LSE concluded that Scotland's voters could be relatively sure that total transition costs over a decade would lie in a restricted range, from 0.4% of GDP up to a maximum of 1.1%.
https://t.co/x3BeKQFIoq
Alberta's GDP is approximately $473.9 billion CAD (2024). Applying the research range directly:
0.4% of GDP = $1.9 Billion
1.0% of GDP = $4.7 Billion
1.1% of GDP = $5.2 Billion
@ABDanielleSmith is fibbing again!!
I can understand Smith not taking the independence side.
Her campaigning hard against it however is not going to end well for the party if she wants to avoid a split.
How about working on an Alberta Pension Plan & leaving citizens to deal with the referendum?
Carney’s "Canada strong" has already turned out to be "Canada crumbling".
He promised the "fastest-growing economy in the G7." He delivered the only recession in the G7.
In 2025 he promised “free trade within Canada” by Canada Day. He delivered provinces blocking and vetoing pipelines.
He promised a new approach to "spend less". He delivered $200,000 in flight catering bills and increased deficits.
He promised unity and elbows-up. He delivered multiple provinces seeking independence from confederation.
It’s time to get real and end the charade. This actor wasn’t even a drama teacher. Canada is broken, it’s time to move on.
This video didn’t age well. If this is what he said a year ago and we ended up in a recession, where will we be next year? For Albertans, October 19 is our chance to set a new path towards a brighter future for the next generation.
On Oct 19, vote option 2!
1. We'd still have that
2. We'd prefer a petrodollar
3. We'd still have that (if you want to keep your railroad)
4. We can extract these and run them better
5. We'd have a Swiss style military, you can keep your African warlords
6. We can figure out how to print passports without childhood photos of Trudeau on them.
7. We'd be in the black on day one.
8. We can get better trade deals without your rancid dairy industry.
9. The courts that is 6/9ths Trudeau appointees, that protects pedos? Keep it.
10. Lmao
Who benefits from an independent Alberta?
✅Albertans.
Who doesn’t?
❌Ottawa politicians.
❌Liberal MPs.
❌Conservative MPs.
❌Federal bureaucrats.
❌Lobbyists.
❌Equalization addicts.
Funny how fast they all unite when Albertans decide Alberta should come first.
Last year, I told Canadians I have a plan to build the strongest economy in the G7.
Today, under my leadership, Canada is the only G7 country officially in a recession.
I failed at the Bank of Canada. I failed at the Bank of England.
Now, I'm failing as Prime Minister.
1. We don't have free access to the Canadian market
2. The Canadian dollar is shit these days
3. We don't have pipeline access across provinces
4. We pay more for those shared programs than we get back
5. Our military is decrepit and woke
6. We are also born-in-Canada citizens
7. The cost of staying is greater than leaving. We won't trade liberty for safety
8. Our trade deals are falling apart
9. The courts and Liberal appointed judges are letting bad guys walk to protect their immigration status. We have no say in their appointment.
10. We are different, culturally, and we want to protect that. Our families won't stop being family if we leave.
Try harder, Dimitris. This was bad.
Warren, the only country we need to defend ourselves against will be Canada.
A quick mutual defence agreement with the US solves that problem until an Alberta Army and Airforce are established.
The 70 BILLION IN CCP, EI and taxes takes care of the rest. FYI Canada owes Alberta over 360 Billion from CPP Overpayments by Alberta.
We’ll be fine. Thanks for your concern.
No matter the outcome of the referendum in Alberta, Canadian federalists will spend the next decades fighting the breakup of the country.
They will be unsuccessful. There are too many factors pulling Saskatchewan, Quebec and Alberta away from the Canadian dumpster fire. It's just a matter of time - but all the while the feds build crippling debt and enable perennially lower productivity.
Albertans should get in front of the collapse and get out first.
