When Daniel Ellsberg released the Pentagon Papes showing that the US Government was systematically lying to the American public for years -- claiming they were close to winning the Vietnam War when they knew they could never win -- Ellsberg was subjected to the same vilification and smear campaign Kent is getting now.
They accused Ellsberg of being a liar, a traitor, a Kremlin agent, and then tried to imprison him for life under the Espionage Act (they also broke into his psychoanalyst's office to depict him as a sexual deviant).
But Ellsberg's revelations remain historic. Ellsberg is widely regarded as a hero. His warnings were proven right. And it changed the way that Americans understand their government and its wars.
@JoshuaDysart Well, if the godz ever smile… perhaps @DCOfficial will put out a big ass swampy omnibus… the ones with a bazillion pages. I voted for it on the @NearMintCon /Tiger Eyes poll …and I will do so again next year!
