Today marks exactly 7 days since I came out of a long day in the operating room.
They have been very tough days. The immediate postoperative period, the days in the hospital, and now at home. But it seems everything has gone well and in a few months I'll be fine again.
I hope this marks the closing of one of the hardest periods, if not the hardest, of my life.
The truth is, I had never taken a leave or stopped like this in my life, so it's quite hard to go from 100 to 0 in this way. But I can also see the opportunity within the situation.
I have learned a lot at all levels, and this is one of those moments when you realize what is important, what things matter, and also for whom you are important.
I hope to get through this and be able to return to normal this summer, but I certainly won't be the same, and I will make sure of it.
Thanks to the entire medical team taking care of me before, during and after the operation, and to my family and circle who are with me during these moments.
I have no intention of going anywhere. I intend to return, but to return very different. I leave it to the Alex of the future, once recovered, to decide what and how I'll do things. For now, it's time to recover.
It's a delicate matter and I've shared what I needed to share. I trust that in a few months it will just be another anecdote to share over a tea or a nice cold mango Monster.
