There’s a moment in the finale where the cast sings acapella at the edge of the stage - chills. It’s always hit me as beautiful before, but but it’s so impactful in person. If you have the opportunity to see it, run and do it.
I saw @SuffsMusical last night and wow was it powerful. I’d listened to the cast recording + watched it on PBS but seeing it live, in DC, in this moment, was unforgettable and so meaningful.
At the @MarylandOPD annual conference legislative update.
• Good news: MD finally passed a law that kids can’t be held in adult facilities.
• Bad news: doesn’t go into effect until October 2029 (presumably so counties have time to build more jails for children).
Accidentally moved/deleted an app off of the first page of my iPhone apps and I’m not sure which app it was I just know that my home screen looks wrong.
I haven’t read the whole thing but I love that this is 23 pages of opinion on a speeding ticket and honestly love that DCCA took the case despite the low stakes.
A former colleague just beat a DC speed-camera ticket at the DC Court of Appeals. DC tried to make a ±1 mph margin of error vanish by regulation. The court held a coin flip isn’t clear and convincing evidence.
Ticket dismissed; math remains undefeated.

I didn’t realize @Titanique is all Celine Dion songs and now I’m bummed I never saw it off-broadway and probably won’t get back to NYC before it closes 😭 please tour!!
I have a client I’ve known and worked with on and off for 4 years, since he was 18. He now has two very serious cases but doesn’t fully grasp how serious they are and it just breaks my heart. He’s a sweet kid who’s had a tough life and tbh I just want to hug him.
Something that happens in at least my county in Maryland is that a commissioner, who is considered a judicial officer, can find no probable cause for charges but the state can still pursue the charges and the client(s) doesn’t/don’t get probable cause hearings.
Saw Ragtime @LCTheater and I’m not sure a piece of theater has ever moved me more. Not just the acting, but the lighting, the staging, all of it. Beautiful. Cried for almost the whole time.
Step 1: tell the state you’re electing a jury trial
Step 2: state tells you, oops, actually, our primary officer is unavailable
Step 3: oppose their postponement
Step 4: win that opposition??
Step 5: profit (dismissal and very happy client)
I’m off of work this week and attending QuiltCon (a convention for quilters and sewers and lovers of fabric). Today mom asked me what the Supreme Court did today. And I had no idea. And that made me happy. I’m disconnecting and basking in my hobbies and some whimsy.
