"What if we asked every kid in America next fall as an assignment to tell us what they learned during the pandemic, how they grew, how they are different and what they wanted to do next? They could represent this multimodally and share within community!" #edu5123
The best teachers I have seen are the teachers that know how to keep student interested. They use their experiences as a student and teacher to give instruction effectively and keep students motivated. This seems to be one of the keys to strong teacher efficacy. #bc5243
During the pandemic I'm still figuring out how to implement high expectations in the classroom. Students are more worried about the future and are not getting to see their friends. High expectations involve teaching effectively despite everything students are dealing with.#bc5243
Suspension is not a punishment for most problematic students. A good alternative to suspension would be counseling or rehabilitation. It could fix a wide range of problems while the student continues their education. #bc5243
Its hard to know what to do with problem students. Suspension may stop further damages from occurring during school. Counseling and behavioral therapy might be the key to getting to the root of the problem, especially if a student shows exceptionally destructive behavior #bc5243
A welcoming culture is one that recognizes that everyone is different and will see the world differently. The environment should have high expectations, but also recognizes brilliance so each individual can reach their full potential.
Having high expectations of yourself is to truly believe in your abilities. If you truly expect the best from yourself there is no room for self doubt. Believe that you are gifted. You owe to your self and the people around you who believe in you. #bc5243
