@amahnke Not to mention: disregarding audiobooks is ableist. Reading is reading is reading. Let’s not tear people down for engaging in stories and learning!
@mattyglesias What does “membership” mean? Because I’m an active churchgoer and have been all my life, but I haven’t been an official member anywhere. The membership hoops in some of the churches I’ve attended haven’t been worth the effort.
@kibblesmith I take the line from the Karate Kid and sub our “fear,” usually for “logic” in: “Fear has no place in this dojo.”
I also tell people “Strength and honor” in wishing them luck, especially if they’re off to do mundane things.
Those are pretty well known, but not often quoted?
@hankgreen But is that…writers based in Montana? Or writers who heavily market themselves as western writers in Montana?
Ugh. What does it matter. Both are nonsense statements. Montana writers rock.
@wabermes But be forewarned: An Ember in the Ashes is amazing, and very dark. I cried over that single series more than I have cried over all other books combined.
@wabermes Hmm, have you read An Absolutely Remarkable Thing yet?
Anything by Ursula Le Guin (The Left Hand of Darkness)
The Mirror Visitor series is a wild fantasy series. One of my favorite reads of the past year.
And I’ll always rec Sabaa Tahir’s Ember in the Ashes series.
@JournalistsLike@nytimes Reminds me of the time my InDesign auto-populated Elton John’s mug with “Putin” as the caption. So glad we caught it before it went to print.
@blujreviews Having the courage to sit down over and over again to create a world full of problems I’ll need to fix…and then fixing those problems…and then sharing that faulty product with other people…letting it go when it’s done…
Better question: what *isn’t* hard about it?
