@TFIupdates@IrishRail Hi there. Is there any update on the 9.05 train to Heuston from Waterford? A family member was on board and said they were know waiting for a buses to arrive but that was about 2 hours ago with no update since?
Something so satisfying about this man’s refusal to take the bait with the usual leading questions on migration. Just calmly & stubbornly fair-minded, straightforward, no nonsense answers in a perfect Wexford accent right in the middle of the town. 10/10
My favourite of all train passengers are the ones who can see the name displayed above the seat, can see you sitting there, look you in the eye and ask you - “is that you there is it?”.
And then walk on as if they could lay a valid claim to the seat on catching you out.
There is something beautiful about fake Irish patriots being confronted by an Irish journalist who works principally through the Irish language and they cannot speak a word of their own language. Iontach a fheiceáil!

Brilliant piece from @poloconghaile on one of Ireland’s most iconic brands.
A nice reminder too of what passionate and creative colleagues people I’m lucky to work with in @Failte_Ireland
The Harry Clarke documentary on OireachtasTV tonight was just incredible. I had a good idea of the story already thanks to this year’s @HistFest but really enjoyed the mix of archival documents and the wider overview of Clark’s life and work.
During that chat he mentioned he wanted to speak to me because he felt the cure and bonesetters like him were dying out, and it was important to keep our old customs and stories alive.
So I did smile recently when I saw that he was immortalised in one of Claire Keegan’s books
So sad to hear about the passing of the infamous Dan O'Neill (or Nail) the bonesetter in Myshall, Co. Carlow.
I spoke to him for one of the first radio pieces I made back in 2012.
Here's a short clip from that chat where he explains how he started

This surveillance story from @ShamimMalekmian @DublinInquirer of a biometric identification system put in place by @nedcollege to log international students’ attendance is a perfect example of a tech solution in search of a problem.
“Well it’s raining but it’s not wet rain”
My Uncle describing the weather today. No wonder there is so much of the Irish language that just can’t be translated into English.
I’m watching the Beckham doc purely for Roy Keane content but Gary Neville being quizzed as to why he never went to the Hacienca is a nice little cherry on top
Happy Michaelmas all, the day the devil spoiled the blackberries for everyone.
Perfect time to revisit this gorgeous piece with Michael Fortune on Shaun O Rourke from 2018
