Five years ago, Bechem United, a Ghana Premier League side, had just signed a young striker who had not played for any club before.

He had been spotted playing community football. He was an instant hit in the league. Four goals in his first 10 games. I travelled to Bechem to interview him.

Listening to his journey from Sampa to Bechem, I had to turn the interview into a motivational session. Urged him on to forget where he came from and work hard.

I’m glad he is making it.

The name is Prince Adu Kwabena and he will be striking for Ghana at the World Cup.
